After a half a year of this promotion has everybody liked it? Has it been a success? Any stories out there about how cool it was that WDW did something for a limited time?

I'll admit, it's been a bit of a sleeper for me, but seeing some photos posted here with some of the lost friends was pretty cool. And they have a few more lost friends coming up.

Ummm, remind me some of the things they did for LTM.

I guess that tells you what I thought of it. ;)

To me, it seems great for the locals with APs. Having special events and offers for a limited time doesn't do much for people that don't/can't go often enough to enjoy each of the magical events during their limited time...

Yep...this!

Now...if they had posted the whole year of what was going to be done (even if it was "subject to change without notice), then those of us not local could have at least considered this week over next week....but since you rarely know about it even a few days ahead it really has no meaning to me.

I rate it up there with the other spur of the moments pixie dust filled things that happen....we've had many of those over the years and they are special, but really....a special cupcake or soup? Not so much.

Yeah, you're definitely not missing much.

As someone who frequents the parks more than the average guest, but not necessarily more than a local (I have been five times so far this year), I have to say that this LTM "promotion" has been especially awful. It seems like most of the "events" scheduled have been releases of limited time (extra-expensive) merchandise, with a few random shows or character greetings mixed in. The only Limited Time Magic I have experienced was the opportunity to buy a $30.00 t-shirt when I was there in April. I passed, of course, and just found the same shirt at the Character Warehouse at the Florida Premium Outlets in Little Lake Bryan last week for $6.99.

Honestly, if I were just an average guest (heck, if I were the same Disney nut I am now, but never went on the boards here) I probably would have no idea that they were even doing this promotion.

My problem with this "promotion" is not in some performances or greetings or the characters dressed up in different costumes that only a handful of visitors will ever experience (for 99% of them, I'm sure it's just dumb luck that they run into these things, rather than strategic planning). My problem with this "promotion" is that most of the Limited Time Magic is just some overpriced souvenir that Disney is trying to get us to buy.

Now, I'm not saying that Disney 'owes' us anything like the Year of a Million Dreams promotion every single year; however, if they're going to do something as stupid as Limited Time Magic, maybe just not do anything at all and put their resources into something that people might actually enjoy a year or two down the road...

I've been more than a little underwhelmed. The only one that would have remotely piqued my interest was when they brought out some of the rare characters. I mean other than that what was there? A chance to spend more money on merchandise. Seriously?
Oh.. and soup. Can't forget the soup.

So far, not so good. But we are heading down for Friday the 13th and I hope they do something cool for villains weekend. :hyper:

I like most pp could take or leave stuff. I am excited for Vilians bash and would have loved to be there for lost friends week.

The character meet and greets have been great. We live one and a half hours away so we have ran over for those events Faries, AK dance etc...if your not close by it's been the luck of the draw, soup, vote for things, or singing people at the trolly. Yawnnnnnnnn......

Oh yeah, there is a promotion going on this year isn't there? I forgot. While I'm sure this comes off a bit snarky (and really it is ;) ) I honestly forgot about Limited Time Magic.

Aside from the limited time characters they had available for one week, everything else has seemed fairly boring about this promotion.

I absolutely loved LTM!!! I got incredibly lucky and during my trip they had the special "may the 4th be with you" star wars day at HS. I will never be able to take a trip during star wars weekends since I cannot get any time of from work during mid-may/june so this was a once in a lifetime opportunitiy. I'm a star wars fan so taking pictures with all the characters, beeing able to buy a limited edition t-shirt and seeing the awesome special fireworks was so awesome. Couldn't have been any better. But I guess this was also one of the really special LTM events so I feel lucky :cool1:

So how do I find out what LTM is going on during August? I honestly forgot about it and now I'm curious if anything cool will be going on.

IMO, this has been the biggest problem with LTM promotion... inconsistency. Every once in a while, there's something that actually rates as "magical." But they are few and far between. I also think it rubs salt in the wounds of those whose "magical" experience was the opportunity to buy a bowl of soup.

And count me among those who, after getting an initial laugh about how lame the promotions were, promptly forgot that they were even HAVING a promotion.

If more of the events were on par with the Star Wars surprise referenced above, this could be a decent effort. It'll be interesting to see if the second half of the year has more "magic" or more "soup."

I enjoyed meeting the Lost characters... everything else was "blah" to me.
