(CNN) -- The Federal Aviation Administration has given clearance for flights diverted after Tuesday's terrorist attacks to continue on to their final destination Wednesday, but ordered all other commercial air traffic to remain grounded.

Only passengers on the original flights will be allowed to re-board, and only after airports and airlines have implemented strict screening measures.

Senior officials tell CNN that commercial air traffic will be phased back in Thursday, and will not return to a normal level until Thursday evening at the earliest.

Don't kid yourself. Travel won't be anywhere near normal until the end of the weekend at the earliest. Every airline has a major problem to face when flights begin again. Their aircraft are all deployed in the wrong places. This isn't like a winter snowstorm where only a half dozen cities are affected. This is the entire country having the same problem. You may have a confirmed reservation for a flight Thursday but there's nobody saying your plane will be there. It will take several days for all those aircraft to be properly redeployed. Until then....c-h-a-o-s.

I agree it will be chaos, but at least we are starting to clean up the mess!

Im hoping its cleared up by the next 21 days! I'll keep checking the airline site and see if my flight number gets changed.
