Is it safe?
Do you have it?
Is it free?
Do you have to sign up?

Yeep!

DonnaDonnaDonnaDonna..

RESEARCH TIME!

Limewire is notorious for viruses, nasty ones at that. A police woman came to visit us and told us that they'd had a call from one man because he tried to download a song from there and instead it downloaded child porn. The only way to truly erase that from your hard drive is to destroy it.

I don't have it and i have no idea if you have to sign up or not it is however free.

Oh and by the way it's illegal.
As is any site where you can download music without paying.
You cost the music industry millions in illegal downloads.
Do us all a favour stick to stuff like Itunes.

Here in the UK there's talk of cutting off internet connections to anyone found downloading music illegaly. Something that is under heavy skeptiscm because often wireless connections are not locked, meaning anyone picking up it's signal can use it. So if someone uses your wireless connection to download, you're going to pay for it.

What about music that isn't available on itunes (which, believe me, there is a lot of)? Musicians that don't have albums out, but have mp3s out?

I've used limewire for almost 5 years now and I've NEVER gotten a virus, ever. I've only used it for 6 months on a mac (rarely will you find a virus written for macs), and the other years it was used on a PC.

You can either pay for it or you can get it for free.

You don't have to sign up.

Nope I dont have it.

My sister tried and it gave my computer a ton of viruses.

I also think it is illegal, so I wouldn't use it nowadays.

It doesn't give viruses.
The program itself does not give any sort of virus/adware/spyware of any sort...

It depends on what you download from it. You need to be smart when downloading from P2P clients. All, or most, connect you to the same network.

On the network, is music, movies, videos and whatnot.

You need to be careful of what you're downloading.

For instance - If I were to download a song. A typical song ranges from 2MB to 7MB. You can find out all this info before downloading. Just look at the description of the song you want, and it will tell you the size.

If you see a song you like, and it's only 500 KB, then you better not download it, because it's obviously not a song.
See what I'm saying?

As long as you follow a simple rule like this, you should be fine.

Yes, it's free. Use it sparingly, however.

I like iTunes a lot, it's so much easier, and you get what you pay for

It is illegal.
That is enough for me not to have it.
I want to reward those artist and the music industry who make the songs I like so they'll make more songs. They derserve the money.

I've heard of people getting viruses from using it.
That's another reason I don't want it.

A friend told me about it before I knew it was illegal.
I got it on my computer and tried to find a song I wanted. It was so confusing I had no idea what I was doing. Then my mom told me it was illegal so I deleted it.
Itunes is a lot easier to use in my opinion.

I use it even though it is illegal.
Just don't download too much at a time.
After I download it onto my ipod I delete it off of my limewire.

I wouldn't touch that program. It's notorious for trojans and viruses, because you're downloading shared files. It's not like an iTunes where you're nearly garunteed for no viruses. Save yourself some money and use iTunes. It's not going to cost you a whole new computer down the road.

Is it safe? No. It's illegal and causes tons of viruses.
Do you have it? No.
Is it free? Yes.
Do you have to sign up? I don't know.

It doesnt matter if you delete it of your computer. They trace certain programs that you would download and thats how they catch you.

So many nieve people. First off its illegal and not illegal. The law says your allowed 2 share music with your "friends". So the people im sharing music with im friends with =). Second offf its notorius for viruses. You need to use common sense which most people today fail to imply. And third off there not gonna track some teenager siiting in there house downloading a couple of songs here and there. THey have better things to do. THey are gonna go after people that upload masive ammounts of files or download massive ammounts of files. So baasicaly they will only bust you if your activitys show "intent to distribute".

1 use common sense like said before
2 dont upload files only downlaod
3 dont download alot of files. Keep it under 100 per month and thats still alot

I'd say even that is a lot. Keep it down, as if you were paying for the songs, like get a few at a time. You're right, they go after the people who download in mass amounts.

They're mostly looking for people downloading torrents. Which, usually, include whole albums, programs, and movies.

There looking for everyone but individual coroporation have hired companies to track down people through torrents in a completly legal way, a way in which wouldnt work on limewire. Only the goverment has the authority to track people effectivly in limewire

If you have anti-spyware software, limewire most likely won't give you viruses.
No, you don't sign up, it's just a download.

I don't have it and I never will. For these reasons:

1) My best friend had it and she was always careful about what she downloaded. Unfortunately, she downloaded several viruses without knowing and by the time she found out, her computer was fried. So she had to go out and spend like $1000 to replace it.

2) If you do get caught downloading illegaly (which Limewire is) you can be not only fined very hefty amounts, but charged the list price for every song you downloaded (so, if you download 500 songs and get caught, then get charged 99 cents per song you're looking at a $495.00 bill plus the fine [which is usually like 500 bucks]).

3) It's basically stealing. If you want music that you don't have, first ask around with your friends. See if they own the album that you want.

4) I know somebody mentioned that the average song file on limewire is usually between 2 and 7 MB, but this can also be true for a short movie clip. And if you're downloading a cd with a name like "Doggystyle" (by Snoop Dogg), well, let's just say you won't always be getting the album. And that's not really something I'd like to have on my computer.

Is it safe? it is for me, i have an anti-popup/spyblocker thingy on my computer.
Do you have it? yes!! i love it sooo much
Is it free? yeah, unless you sign up.
Do you have to sign up? no unless, you want the one without any popups or anything like that. but limewire isnt to bad about all that anyways. but it does cost like 19.99 a month if you do sign up. but im not signed up.
