I know that lime green is the color ribbon for the DIS boards. But is anyone else having a hard time finding lime green?
If not...where did you get it at?

Thanks!

I got "Key Lime Green" ribbon at Hobby Lobby a couple of years ago. It was in the fabric section. I also have some lime green curling ribbon that I use on my fanny pack and back packs.
I decorated myself a t-shirt for our trip a couple of months ago. I liked it so much that I am going to make me one for every day we are there next time. It is a white shirt and I put DIS in small letters on the front, about the area where a pocket would be. I used large letters to put "POOHSTYX" on the back, like a football jersey. The letters were stick-on and I sprayed lime green fabric dye over the entire shirt - after the letters were stuck on. When it dried, I took the letters off (to use again) and the shirt is lime green except where the letters were. My white t-shirt is now lime green with white lettering.
I was wearing the shirt one night at the Boardwalk. We were sitting at a table eating chilli-cheese dogs! We overheard some people, who were standing next to us, talking about an internet board. I asked if they were part of the DIS and they were. They then noticed my t-shirt. They were: Webmaster Michelle, Cathy Canada and Cris C and his wife, Beth.

Isn't that sooo neat when you meet up with people like that. Last year...on the AOL Disney boards...I was in charge of the June list. Well, we chose purple as our ribbon and I meet a few people who were wearing their purple ribbon. I think that is so neat!
I'll keep looking around for lime green ribbon!

We have met several DIS'ers by wearing the green ribbons. In Dec '99, we were crossing the bridge at AK and heard someone yell "green ribbons" at us! :D
It was Mare and her family. We had a great little chat and we saw them the next morning at b'fast at CP @ MK. Wonderful family!

Good luck finding the ribbons. If you're ever going to be in our area, let me know by email or PM and maybe we can meet to say hello.

Hi from Texas -
Still looking here in Texas - found some very thin Lime green ribbon (about 1/32 wide) at JoAnn's Fabrics. I really was looking for something wider than that. I'm still looking - tied to the house last few days having work done on my kitchen. Barb

Before our trip last July, I managed to find a couple of sizes of lime green ribbon at Hobby Lobby...I had to search for it, but it was there. We tied the thinner strips to our fanny packs and used the wider ribbon for the antennae of the RV.

We did run into several fellow DIS-ers and even traded canned goods!!

Poohstyx, I'm curious about where you got your lime green fabric die spray and how well did it hold up? That really does sound like an excellent idea and I may have to borrow it!! :D

I was going to make tshirts for the entire family going on our trip to Disney using my sig graphic. I am also going to make tshirts with the word Disneyland on the front and our last names on the back. Now to find a nice Disneyland logo........

I just went to Joann's today and found some ribbon that is sort of a dull lime green and I found some really cute rayon bandanna material in lime green - so I'm going to use a combo of the 2. I bought 1/4 yd of the material and will cut it into squares to tie onto the golfcart/stroller whatever. The ribbon I'll tie onto fanny packs and maybe a piece on our cabin railing.

Look for us next week!:p

Hopefully in the 2500 loop.:bounce:

Back to packing!!!!!:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

phins_jazy,

I got the fabric dye at Hobby Lobby and it holds up really well. I got a 2 oz. bottle (about $4 I think). I have used many other colors - red, blue, and purple. All but the green have done at least 2 - 3 shirts. The green only did 1. I put it on a little heavier, to show up better. It is a really pretty lime green. I hope your shirts come out as good as mine. I'm gonna do several more. I did some in other colors with my granddaughter last summer. Really cute for a kid craft.

My brother lives in Arlington and we have been through Amarillo many times.

We are planning a trip out west in a couple of months. We will also be at DL - the 1st week or so of August.

Please, feel free to "swipe" the t-shirt idea - I didn't come up with the idea! Let me know how you did with it.

BTW: Happy Birthday last Sun. - it was our 35th wedding anniversary!!

Poohstyx~

Thanks for the birthday wish! :D Happy Anniversary to you!!! ;)

Now about the dye.......I've got a Hobby Lobby right around the corner from my house. Do you remember the name of the dye you used? I've never used dye before. I always just use paint. Do you spray it on with a water bottle or do you soak it in a bucket?? I can't wait to try this out!!

We moved to Amarillo from North Dakota a year and a half ago so I haven't really had a chance to explore the state. We've only been to Canyon and the Palo Duro Canyon.

Have fun in DL!!!! I'm anxiously waiting to go in March!!!!

The name of the dye that I used is -Tumble Dye - Craft & Fabric Dye. It is in a small spray bottle and you just spray it on. I used short spritz motions. You can use as much or a little as you like. The more you use, the darker it will be.
You can also get a large bottle of fabric dye, at Wal Mart, and mix it in a large spray bottle. If you do this, here's the mixture you'll need: 6 oz water - 2 oz liquid dye and 2 T. salt. Mix in a spray bottle and spray in a light motion on fabric. I have seen this done where I first learned about it, but I haven't tried this method. It worked really well also.
I also found the stick-on letters at Hobby Lobby. I did a puzzle t-shirt for my granddaughter last year. We used the pieces of a large puzzle - turned pix side down. We used the red spray dye and just sprayed all over the shirt. When it dried, we removed the pieces and all the shirt was red speckled except where the puzzle pieces were - those areas were white. Really cute.

We have seen the Palo Duro Canyon. I'm sure that Amarillo is like another world after being in ND. We are planning to go to ND & SD next year - never been.
