Hello all!
I was a dork and posted this in the wrong spot before, so I am trying again. I have a 2.5 year old who LOVES Lilo and Stitch. We are travelling to Disney World in May with my parents and staying at the Poly (thanks dad!) Anyway, I have been searching for a dress for my daughter like the one Lilo wears in the movie. It looks fairly simple, but I don't sew. Would anyone be willing to make me one? I will, of course pay you for supplies and your time. Thank you in advance!!! Have a great day!

Did yo consider posting on Craigslist ...with so many people out of work, you may get some crafty person that would like the $$ and You would get the dress, have a picture posted in your ad!

Good Luck!

DISers can't exchange money via the DIS, so this may get pulled, but in the meantime...I was Lilo for MNSSHP last year. I got an inexpensive red dress and used Wonder Under to attach leaves cut from an old white sheet. TONS of compliments on my no-sew (AND SUPER CHEAP!!) costume.

Try posting this request on the "Alchemy" section of etsy.com. It's free to sign up, and I've bought some wonderful things from some wonderful people. I'm sure you'll get a response. I did see one "lilo" dress on there, but the seller was asking $115 for it. :scared1: I'm sure someone can do it MUCH less expensive than that!

Good luck! It sounds like an adorable idea. :cloud9:

I forgot about the no money exchanging hands thing. Sorry to the mods for that. Thanks for the great ideas guys. I will try Craig's List and Etsy. I saw the $115 dress. Crazy. If I get real brave and can find a cheap red dress for her I will give the no sew costume a try. Very wonderful ideas guys! Thank you so much :lovestruc

i too am wanting a lilo dress and saw the one on etsy for 115. i like it, but not that much. i will keep looking, or find something close :confused3

Just buy a red dress and cut leaf shapes out of white felt. You can use fusible webbing to iron them on. No sewing needed!

My dd8 loves Lilo & Stitch...we will be going to Ohana Breakfast and dinner (staying at Poly). I am going to buy her a grass skirt to wear...although, I DO like the red dress with Hawaiian flower cut out idea!!!:thumbsup2 I will not keep my eyes open for a red dress or shirt.

Thanks for the idea!!!:worship:

EBAY! I found DD Lilo's red dress, it was actually from the Disney store, had the tags and a little applique of lilo in the center. Just keep looking on ebay daily, I am sure at one point it will turn up.
But I did find this if you can't find it:

I have purchased 3 dresses from this seller, they are beautiful.

this is more of a princessy costume one

or maybe search for a red hibiscus dress, that is very similar to what lilo wears. Maybe if you found a hawaiian shop on line you could possibly find it?

Last year we stayed a the Poly we found a similar dress to the one that Lilo wears. It was more of a sundress, but it was red with a large white hawaiian print.

I think it was around $30 at Boutiki.

DD was pretty pleased with it and wore it to the Luau. She still calls it her Lilo dress.

Here's a pic of my no-sew Lilo...

For kids, you could get an adult t-shirt and nip in the sides, and it would look more like the real dress than the Etsy one, even. The flower in my hair (purchased from the Poly right before the party) was more than half the cost of my costume at about $6.

come on over to the disboutiquer thread, it is in the disney for family section, we will have you sewing in no time;)

wow you guys have been a great deal of help! i am going to google some dresses, and if nothing else maybe make her one? i make children's jewelry and hairbows, but have no idea how to sew. BUT this could be something that teaches me :rotfl:. i was soooo ready to click and buy the one on etsy but im glad i held off.

These are recent photos of my twin nieces in their Lilo dresses....
I used fusible interfacing for the leaves, on a peasant style red dress. Lilo loved them!

My girls have a cool Aunt who made them Lilo dresses for our trip. We ate at the Lilo breakfast and then went into AK . Were we saw Lilo again.

One of my favorite pictures of the trip.

She made the leaves out of interfacing and ironed it on.

Okay guys,
I'm so excited to announce that after posting a request on the Etsy site I got a Lilo dress made for 22.50 shipped!! It is so cute, and the lady that did it made it in just a few days. :cool1: Just wanted to share a picture. I will check to see if she minds me posting her Etsy name on here if anyone else is interested. Thanks for all the advice and I love the pictures of the other Lilo dresses. Here's my daughters:
