Can I ask a newbie question? lol we are going the first time in November so not sure what typical extended hours are, mind explaining them to me if you don't mind?

It just means that the hours you see posted now on the calendars (a good Nov. calendar HERE) are preliminary.
As we get closer to the actual dates, Disney will extend some days' closing times by one, or two, or three hours.
It can be possible that on a few days they MIGHT open a park or two an hour EARLIER than is currently posted (and/or add Extra Magic Hours to come days.)
They can also add additional parades at MK... and maybe one or two other little extras.
It will not be at every park.
It will not be every day.
But, it will happen, and expect it to happen in the timeframe of 7-45 days in advance.
I'm hoping they add a second Fantasmic on November 6th to help with the crowds at Osborne lights. And later hours at Epcot for Food & Wine or MK have a second MSEP would be great too. From the dining reservation threads I am guessing November will be busier this year so I think odds are good for extending hours.

We were there last year for a week in the first part of November. The parks were very crowded and Disney was making to changes to park hours during the days while we were in the parks adding hours and second parades at Magic Kingdom and second showings of Fantasmic at Hollywood Studios.

We learned last year to also check the app the during the day to see if they extended them. We were in the MK on Veteran's day (which was really busy because all of FL was off from school) and they extended the hours. We never heard the announcements and only knew because someone in line was talking about it. We ended up leaving after that because it was a zoo, got my kids to nap from 4:30-7:30 and then went back and closed down the park (was open until midnight).
We were there the week before Thanksgiving last year and a couple of AK openings were bumped up by an hour with only a few days notice. Keep an eye on MDE, even while you're there.
