Likelihood of Conventions Week after Easter

I've booked the Swan Apr 10 - 16 and read some posts regarding upgrades for SPG members. It sounds like when conventions are going on, the liklihood of upgrades is less than if there are few conventions. With that said, is Easter week (the weekend including Easter and the following week) a slow convention week? I would guess it is but could be totally wrong. I'm trying to guess my chance of getting an upgrade at this time.

You can certainly call the Swan and just ask them what conventions (and their size) are booked for your time slot. I had a conversation last trip with a CM at the BWI who told me that conventions are way up and just about year round anymore. But we were there the week after Easter and everything was extremely quiet. The weather was beautiful and we walked right onto the attractions.

Thanks for the good advice- I'll go ahead and call the Swan directly closer to my arrival time.

I don't have any plans to change from the Swan either way and in fact plan this trip to spend more time at the pool and surroundings and less time in the parks. Was at the Hilton Hawaiian Village this summer and an HP convention was going on - the hotel was fully booked. But, the pools weren't real crowded and the restaurants were close to empty. Can't complain about that one though I was told I would have received a room upgrade (Hilton HHonors Silver) had the hotel not been booked. I always appreciate a little nicer room than planned though do book the minimum acceptable :-)

Also it's nice to hear the weather was great for you in April. I lived in Orlando for a year in the mid-80's and seem to remember weather is typically good in April - one of the best times of year. I've got my fingers crossed - living in the Pacific Northwest I see rain for the 3-4 months leading up to April and really appreciate sunshine and warmth by that time.

travellady - we'll just plan on lots of sunshine and dry air for your trip. I am not sure if you'll be there for the flower and garden show but if you are make sure you spend some time in Epcot. It is so beautiful there then. Have a ball and we'll hope for the upgrade for you.
