Likelihood of character being added to breakfast?

This is not a rumor, I am simply curious - at what point would Disney decide to add a character to a character dining experience?

Case in point, Moana would be a good fit at 'Ohana as a character breakfast is already in place. However, this is a popular ADR, so maybe there is no incentive. Thoughts?

That is an interesting question that I am not sure anyone knows the answer to. I know they are already auditioning for a Moana face character but that is likely for a meet and greet within the parks.

I tried doing a date range search in Google based on the Lilo and Stitch release date, and from what I can tell Disney jumped on it fairly quickly with those characters.

Other than the Disney Junior location...they rarely add new characters...they keep a relatively small staple of "go to" characters for most locations

What makes it a little more interesting is the fact that the Poly has the gift shop called Moana Mercantile Souvenirs.

Do you know if it was always called that?

It's been called that for as long as I've known of it.

Seeing how the most obvious character addition never happened, Anna and/or Elsa at Akershus, I can't see Moana being added to Ohana. I'd never say never but I'd say highly unlikely.

Makes you think if it was actually synergy or a happy accident.
Considering how common the name of Moana is in Hawaii it was neither.

1) WHEN, they need to get attendance higher at a character meal.
. . . a place like Ohana is already an in-demand character meal
. . . Why increase the fixed costs, if not necessary?
2) Without added revenue, there is no need for the added expenses.
. . . two CM's for character (one on-stage, the second in the break room)
. . . one CM as a full-time on-stage character handler
. . . four-to-six costumes to cover both CM's
. . . laundry personnel and laundry supplies
. . . fringe benefits for CM's involved (about $15,000 per CM)
. . . all-in-all, a single new character at a meal can cost about $250,000 per year
3) So, at what meal do they need extra patronage to justify such an added cost?
4) Guest "preference" does not outweigh Disney "return on investment".

While this would not be adding a character to a meal, there has been talk that Stitch could possibly be removed from 'Ohana in the future. Of course he would then be replaced with another character.
