Likelihood of AirTran Flight Time Change?

Update! I've been monitoring the flight times after booking & on 1/8 the connecting flight time departing ATL changed a whopping 9 minutes. I called AT & the seats were changed to the NS flight woo-hoo. Note that since i did use vouchers for majority of the flight costs, I was cautioned that there might not be availability but it all worked out. thank you airtran!

I'm helping middle DS plan his 1st solo trip to WDW w/GF on his dime (translation = i'll get stuck paying for good chunk of it when the dust settles lol so trying to keep the cost down).

I found a connecting flight that departs approx 5 pm in early March, mid-week on AT returning to PIT. It's priced over $100 less pp than the NS. Trade off is the 5 hour connection/layover in ATL.:rolleyes1

I'm a gambling sort, just wondering what the odds are that the flight time might be changed:confused3, allowing me to then call & get them on better flight-hopefully the NS.

I've had good luck in the past switching things around for myself but haven't flown them since July and not sure if things are still running the same way.

Any recent experience or thoughts on the odds are welcome.

I think there is a chance of it changing. My mid-march trip has changed 2 times already, though I booked Sept 29th. I am not sure how many more times it will change between now and March. The last change just happened last weekend.

Mine changed also, last week, for a late Feb flight, but only by 5 min. I don't know if that would allow switching flights without a change fee.

Yes, it would. I have had Airtran change flights for me for less than 5 minutes. Their customer service is generally great!

Thanks:goodvibeswas hoping they still were making the accommodation

AirTran changed my flight by 40 minutes a couple of months ago and I was not only able to switch to a different flight, but a different, more convenient airport. They are very, very accomodating when they make changes.

That being said, I personally wouldn't want to gamle with a 5-hour layover.

I have been hoping mine would change (booked in July) and NOTHING yet!!! 12 days out, too...looking like it won't happen...

With only 12 days to go it won't change. Those schedules are firm at this point.

I have noticed that once they get close..... maybe under a month they don't make changes like they do when you are 3-4-5+ months out....

Fly safe!

Yeah, I am not expecting it at all. Would just like to get in a bit earlier...and leave a bit earlier. But whatever. Nonstop FREE flights...can't complain TOO much ;)

It's been awhile, perhaps a year? but i've had AirTran make flight changes out of PIT the day before a flight (moved departure up 20 minutes). Not a huge deal, but if running late a consideration. I always check jik.

AT & SWA often delay our flights out of MCO, weather issues. Typically, we've gotten the text/phone call when on way to airport.

fyi, had some family issues to deal with so i didn't get to book the flight until few days ago. Turned out a later connecting flight dropped to same price. Now though they have to worry about a 40 minute connection in ATL:laughing:.

I'll keep monitoring the flight times for changes, thanks all, happy trails:)

Don't count on a change. Anyone remember Carnival airlines? What a joke that was.
