Like a Bad Meal (V Keeps Coming Back) - THE END! 1/12/09

So glad that you girls got to spend some quality time together. The kids are so cute and seemed like they had fun too:woohoo:
Showers at 1130pm ---been there and its not fun especially after a few drinks:rotfl2:
Champagne mojito--sounds yummy
Glad your room mojo was working for you but thats def funny about the "short" stuff in room:lmao:

Leo looks so happy to be hanging out with his friends....sweet
He was - in fact, he's rather spoiled by all the trips with friends lately. I don't think he has as much fun wiht jsut me anymore! :guilty:

I'll be happy to contribute! :cool1:
You're on! :thumbsup2

Darn, I was going to try and convince you to come over on the last day of Wine and Fest. But I know what it is like to live with school schedules.
I know - it stinks. :sad2:

Love the looks of your CBR room. My daughter wants to stay there so I'm sure we'll give it a try.
I really can't say enough about our experiences there - consistently great!

I have to say you now have me obsessed w/ checking for bugs upon check-in. ;)
Y'know, I used to feel silly about it, but the responses I've had from WDW have really put me at ease. I think they understand my desire NOT to bring an infestation home.

I'm back.
Hey Jordan!

Showers at 1130pm ---been there and its not fun especially after a few drinks:rotfl2:
I know, right?!
Champagne mojito--sounds yummy
Yeah, well, hold that thought... :rolleyes1

All - I'm really hoping to get a new installment done this week - thanks for hanging in there with me! :grouphug:

Oy.

I don’t know exactly what time my alarm went off. But it was earlier than I’d have liked. :headache:

Whose great idea was it to go to AK after a late night out? In the heat of August? In the middle of a Tropical Storm?!

Oh. That’s right.

TRACY!!!!

Heh heh. Don’t worry – I love her anyway. ;)

And I shouldn’t harass her overmuch about that morning. I may have been tired and dehydrated, but T was in worse shape. Apparently the amazing Champagne Mojito had done some damage to my sweet friend’s digestive system. :scared: Mind you, it’s not like poor T had had too much to drink – I don’t think she even had more than a few sips from Mojito #2. That single Mojito did something bad. Remember that.

I got ready as fast as I could and Leo enjoyed having breakfast in bed…

Text messages were flying back and forth between me and T, me and LL, me and CE… it was like Textapalooza! Somehow T, LL and I managed to form a plan of attack, and I got word to both CE and Jo that plans had changed – Typhoon was out, Tropical Storm was in. We were on our way to AK, against my better judgment. (See Chapter 1.) Not wanting to call too early, I apparently missed Jo and left a message on her room phone. Sorry Jo!

Someone (coughLLcough) left her car in the Springs section the night before and needed stuff from it, so LL’s family met up with us at the Springs bus stop. I asked Tony about the boys’ night at Fuego’s, and he said it was fun, but the name was Sosa's, not Fuego's. :confused3

I wasn’t feeling good. Not hung-over, but not good. At some point I realized the problem – I’d had no water since about 6pm the night before. And, DOH! I left our freshly-poured-from-the-Brita-pitcher water bottles sitting next to the sink.

No prob – there was a vending machine at the bus stop. Double DOH! I was short 50 cents.

Okay, Tony had a dollar I could borrow. Triple DOH! The machine wouldn’t work.

I considered running back to the room, but sure as anything the bus would then come. I’d be fast without Leo, and I trust LL and Tony to watch him… and hey, if the bus came, I could go back to bed and leave him with them for the day!! :rotfl2:

No, I’m much nicer than that. Instead (look away T) I grabbed a couple sips from the water fountain. In the rain. Which I found very amusing.

Alright, let’s get on with the day, shall we? The bus came, T and family were on it, we got to the AK.

And it rained.

But it didn’t matter much at all – we had such a fun day!

We weren’t there for rope drop. And we didn’t exactly follow a Plan. And we were a pretty large group to handle, touring all together. But, at least Leo and I, had the most fun we’ve ever had at AK that day!

T bestowed the gift of hydration upon me via bottled water and I instantly felt better. Leo, meanwhile, crowned himself Tour Guide and proceeded to lead us into the park and back toward the Safari. Extrapolating all the way on what kinds of animals we might see. If I didn’t say so then, allow me to do so now: thanks guys for letting him have his moment of fame – he loved, LOVED, playing tour guide and still talks about it fondly! :goodvibes

I noticed something interesting as we all walked along… Leo was not only keeping up with the pace but walking ahead of me. As were Maddie and Michael.

2793744853_a3130e0845.jpg

Most interesting. :scratchin

See, Leo’s normal park-walking speed is something akin to a sloth. And I’m constantly on his case to “stay with me”, “walk a little faster” and “stop making me pull you along!” A little conference with my fellow parents confirmed that they’d experienced similar conversations with their offspring.

Hmmm. It appeared that a faster walking speed was a major perk to traveling with other kids – apparently small children move faster in packs! :rotfl:

We stopped for this along the way:

We got to the safari and enjoyed a really nice trip through the savanna. Lots of animals out. Not that you’d know, since I didn’t take any pictures of them.

Oh wait, I did get this guy!
2794598458_3344a93aa8.jpg

And we were tickled to see a lion out on the rock…

Look carefully – she’s there.

Next, Tour Guide Leo led us through the Pangani Forest. And then… lunch! Yep, two attractions and we needed to eat. Told you we got a slow start!

Waldo and TE, T’s parents, headed over to Asia, while LL, Tony and Michael took a train to Planet Watch. The rest of us stopped at Pizzafari and found what’s-her-face just outside the doors:

2794604226_546facaf56.jpg

Which brings something to mind. Leo could not remember Maddie’s name to save his life. And vice-versa. Every five minutes we’d hear one or the other of them asking “What’s your name again?” Cracked me up!

Anyway, Pizzafari was good. I had the Italian sandwich and it was yummy once again. Leo had pizza and the kids enjoyed each other’s company whilst discussing the feeding habits of carnivores. Yum.

A perfect segue, as we trekked through the Maharaja Jungle after lunch. It was rather uneventful, though informative, until the very end. We’d been putting on and taking off jackets and ponchos all day. At some point, we collectively decided to just leave them off and deal with the light drizzle. Not once had it been heavy enough to bother with the rain gear… until we were about 10 feet from the Jungle Trek exit.

Fay let LOOSE! I’ve never seen a group of people pull out jackets, ponchos and umbrellas so fast in my life! Truly, it was the deluge. (NOLiving Seas) The canopy of bamboo seemed to be helping us in our efforts to stay dry-ish, so we huddled together, waiting it out. Waiting. Waiting. Waiting. Until, finally, the rain stopped, the sun burst out from behind the clouds in all its glory and all around, from the far corners of Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park, there arose a humongous round of applause and adulation! I swear, this really happened – and 30 seconds later, when the sun once again disappeared behind a dark band of rain cloud, a collective “Booooooo” was heard across the park. Ah, well, at least the rain had calmed down.

At that point, we went our separate ways. Leo and I in search of popcorn and the park exit, T and family in search of characters. We found our popcorn, found the exit, found the bus stop… and found T there, too! I still don’t know how they got there before we did, but apparently they’d scrapped the rest of the park in favor of a dry hotel room.

Leo shared his popcorn with Maddie and Evan on the bus and I tried desperately to stay awake. The whole bus ride was a blur and I was startled when my cell phone rang just after T and company got off at their SSR stop. As it rang, I saw a gentlemen on the bus holding up Belle, Maddie’s doll, and I knew why T was calling…

“WAIT!” I yelled to the doll-napper, “That’s my friend’s doll!”

In his defense, I’m sure he was planning to bring Belle to the front desk in hopes that she’d be reunited with her best friend. But he looked dicey standing there in knee-high tube socks and a yellow poncho, so I wasn’t taking chances.

I offered to drive Belle over to where her mistress was waiting, but T assured me that Maddie would be fine until we met up again alter that evening, if I wouldn’t mind bringing her. No problem at all.

Back in our villa, I tried to get Leo to nap, but he wasn’t going for it.

I did.

Go for a nap, I mean. I set the alarm to wake up in time for dinner and fell fast asleep to the gentle refrains of Charlotte’s Web.

Coming soon: The Mojito Strikes Back :scared:

Not wanting to call too early, I apparently missed Jo and left a message on her room phone. Sorry Jo!
That's OK I assumed the meet was off :rotfl2:

But, at least Leo and I, had the most fun we’ve ever had at AK that day!
Sounds lovely V :goodvibes

I think everyone had forgotten what the sun looked like :rotfl:

I'm scared of you people and your mojitos.

Can't wait for the next install...well, maybe...now Im a little thrown off about that mojito thing.

Is this the day I should have run into you guys? I think it is but its hard to keep track of everyones reports.

Leo the tourguide!! How cute is that! :goodvibes Good job V in saving Belle from the strange villager! :thumbsup2 :rotfl: Even with Faye acting like a mad woman, the day seemed like a good one!

Whose great idea was it to go to AK after a late night out? In the heat of August? In the middle of a Tropical Storm?!
Ahem. AK is the BEST in a Tropical Storm. :teeth:

Champagne Mojito's are the devil's juice. :scared:

How could we say no to those eyes? :worship:

Notice something else? One empty stroller. Yup, Maddie REFUSED to ride when the boys were around. It got to the point where we no longer used 2 strollers. I am finally free of 1 stroller.

The rest of us stopped at Pizzafari and found what’s-her-face just outside the doors:

Turk. Maddie says her name is Turk.

Ack! Man-hands touched Belle? Don't worry, I won't tell Maddie. :ssst:

Coming soon: The Mojito Strikes Back :scared:
Blech! :crazy2:

Thanks for bringing back all the memories! :goodvibes

::sigh::

RIP Living Seas Pre-Show, RIP
:sad2: I love Nemo and all, but it just doesn't feel right without the big BWWWOOOMMMMM!!!

That's OK I assumed the meet was off :rotfl2:
I figured you would! ;)

I'm scared of you people and your mojitos.
Be afraid, be very afraid. :scared:

Oh, no! Probably you need to try the frozen mojito from Puerta Rico. It's good. :goodvibes
I don't know - Disney's Mojitos scare me now... you'll see why soon...

Is this the day I should have run into you guys? I think it is but its hard to keep track of everyones reports.
I think so! I was only at AK the one time, and that was with T, so it sounds like it.

Leo the tourguide!! How cute is that!
:goodvibes He loved it! Maybe too much, but I'll get to that in a future update.

Ahem. AK is the BEST in a Tropical Storm. :teeth:
Champagne Mojito's are the devil's juice. :scared:
::yes::
Ewwwwww!!!!! :crazy2:
DUDE - I told you to look away! :rotfl:
Notice something else? One empty stroller. Yup, Maddie REFUSED to ride when the boys were around. It got to the point where we no longer used 2 strollers. I am finally free of 1 stroller.
Hooray!!!! I'm almost rid of mine - I'm keeping it around for MNSSHP and EP nights.
Turk. Maddie says her name is Turk.
Oh that's right!

Sounds like Tour Guide Mike may have a young apprentice in Leo!
Seriously! He's pretty good at it, too. The child's like a human GPS system.

YAY!! A new update! :yay:

I see my car is STILL over in the Springs...wonder how long it will stay there...

OH - and I can settle the whole cigar bar name debate...it's officially called: "Fuego by Sosa Cigars"...at least that's what the HUGE (read triple digit) receipt Tony brought back said...big, heavy sigh...Oh and they don't accept "room charges"...cash or credit card only...for future reference...:rolleyes1

And yes, it's a trifecta...best AK day for US as well!!:grouphug:

Heya V :) all caught up and checking in Looks like even thru the rain you and Leo are having a great time :) Can't wait to read more :thumbsup2
