Hi there, I am considering booking my husband in to the lightsaber workshop as a surprise. I am worried about how I am going to take it home (flight back to Hawaii and another to Australia). If we had to, could it be dissembled and put into check in luggage? How long do they measure dissembled? Thank you - and would the droid building be a safer option?

You can detach the blade from the handle. According to DH, the blade that comes with Savi's saber is 31 inches (approximately 0.8 meters), but there also are blades to buy that are 25 or 36 inches. We twice got lightsabers home on airplanes. The blade in the carrying case fits into the back of the overhead bin or next to window seat (or in a closet if the flight attendants are kind).

We have pretty big suitcases, but the blades were too long to fit in them, even disassembled. We have twice just paid to have them shipped home from Batuu. It’s not that expensive. And the other two times my son brought it as a carry on & put it in the overhead bin.

We've flown home with a lightsaber. They fit in the overhead bin when disassembled, but the flight crew was also happy to store them in a closet close to the front of the plane. (Alaska Airlines.)
