Lightsabers, Mouse Kisses and a Man in a Lucky Shirt! A January 2010 TR

You had me scared there with your tummy ache! Then when you said you ate a quesadilla and refried beans, whoa, I thought you were nuts!!! I'm glad you felt better even though you didn't get a nap. I can never seem to nap at WDW either.
What a super short wait for the race cars! That always seems so busy, we've only ridden it once in all our trips. Brave little girl riding Astro Orbiter!!! Oh, man that is high!
Cute picture of the three of you walking on the path.
Can't wait to see how you do with pm EMH!!

I was saying the very same thing! Nothing soothes an upset tummy like a quesadilla with refried beans! :lmao:

How sweet that they brought out 2 cupcakes for the birthday and Un-birthday girl! I'd love to try 1900 Park Fare. I just adore Mary Poppins! :cloud9:

I think I WAS nuts!! :crazy2: I still can't believe I ate the WHOLE thing!! :confused3

We will definitely be doing the nap thing next august - the heat will be kicking our butts! Staying at the Poly though will make it SO EASY to head back for a siesta!! :)

I could not believe that Nat wanted to ride Astro Orbiter - she still has yet to ride BTMRR!!!

PM EMH?? You will just have to stick around to find out how we did!! ;)

Aha!! I see you have yourself a ticker!!! Does that mean your trip is official??

I literally went "NOT A TUMMY ACHE!". I'm glad you felt better :) The photos are amazing (as usual!).

Looking forward to the PM EMH! I love your entries!

Fantastic photopass pics! I'm determined to get the balloon one next month (and baby Simba). That's too bad about the stomach ache. I know what it's like to not feel good at the most Magical Place on Earth (remember my sinus woes last June??). It's horrible!

I have absolutely no problem falling asleep anywhere. I'm hoping to take my midday naps out by the pool next month instead of alone in our room.

Can't wait to hear about MK EMH!

Hey MEL!!! Long time, no see!! You must be getting so excited for your trip to DL!!! Will you share any of your trip with us?? I would love to hear about that park!! Hope you guys have a great time!!

Hi :yay::yay: I've been hanging around the Disneyland threads :rolleyes1 but I'm still Dis'n ;) I am getting pretty excited about my trip...I am mostly excited about visiting during halloween time! I have to say that planning a Disneyland trip is so frustrating :headache: They still have not posted the hours or schedules for the weeks I'm going?!?! It's crazy! I am also disapointed that they don't have a dining plan like WDW but I'm sure once we get there we will have a blast!

I will for sure update you on my trip when it's all over!

CHAPTER 15: STROLLIN" ROUND THE QUARTER......ALONE!!!!!

Since I had a little bit of time before my snoozy family perked up I decided to take my camera and have a stroll around the grounds.

I left our room, turned right instead of left and headed toward the river. I sauntered around the pool area, poked around for the hot tub, strolled through the yet to be flowery gardens (remember, it was only January!) and then found my back to the main building and got myself a coffee in Ken's refillable mug before heading to the gift shop to have a look around!

I didn't take too many pictures, but I managed to take a few of the things that interested me! ENJOY!!!

I headed back to the room to check on my sleepy family and found them wide awake and getting ready to go! The girls wanted to explore the playground area before we headed back to MK for the last time.

I told Ken that could have the camera and have a little walk about to have some time to himself and I wouls stay with the girls at the playground. Before he went on his walk I took these shots of the play structure

I relinquished the camera and the mug and sat down to look about while the girls enjoyed of few minutes of kid time! The play structure is pretty nice. It is actually quite a big bigger than the one at WL where we stayed last year! The girls had a great time just running around and being kids! There was another family there with 2 little boys and they all played really nicely together!

Ken returned to see if we were ready to head out yet and we went back to the room briefly to gather our coats etc as it was starting to get a bit chilly again. Here are the shots that Ken took on his walk.

My guy has a serious fascination with the whole black and white thing - he actually takes some really nice pictures!

So we grabbed our coats and backpack and headed out the door for our last evening in the Magic Kingdom. It was kind of a bittersweet moment!

Love all of the pics! I love black and white photos too, I just always forget to experiment with that option!

WOW Meghan - you are QUICK!!! :goodvibes I seriously JUST posted this chapter like 3 minutes ago!!! Glad you stopped in! I too love taking pictures - I just never seem able to take the time to find a great shot at WDW - I am just too distracted by everything going on around me!!!

WOO HOO :woohoo: I just realized that you only have 3 weeks left until your trip!!! :cool1: Can't wait to hear all about it when you get back!!! :yay:

Hello Again!!! I see you are heading back for another trip!! Will you do another TR?? I loved your first one - it was GREAT!!! Where are you staying this year?? :)

Hi! I am hoping to do another TR this year. It's a fun way to remember all of the details of your trip, isn't it? We are staying offsite this year.:scared: We got a great deal with direct air from our city, but we had to book an offsite hotel package to get the great rate. We arrive in Sanford and we will be renting a car this time. Since we have the car DH and DD6 will be checking out Harry Potter at Universal while DD3 and I have a special day together at MK. We will also be going to the ocean for a day. It will be different not taking ME, but if it means I can go back to my happy place it is worth it!

I like all the black and whites! I'm always messing with my pics in Picasa to see what they look like in b&w.

I really do hope that you can make that ticker official sometime!!

Sincerest apologies for the 4 month absence.

CHAPTER 8, PART 2

I checked us in for our ADR and I was told we would be called shortly! We maybe waited 5 minutes before hearing our names being called! We followed our hostess to a table near the stairs at the back and were told that our server would be with us right away!
I can’t make up my mind if I like to be kept waiting or not. On one hand I loved taking in the details of the tavern, looking at the colonial and revolutionary paintings, documents and displays. On the other hand I was opting between passing out from hunger and throwing a tantrum to get my bacon and eggs served by Minnie in a maid costume.

There is a sentence I doubt I’ll ever say at work.

DSC04345.jpg

DSC04348.jpg

DSC04349.jpg
Isn’t the woodwork gorgeous?! BTW, I AM straight, and I’m telling you that, not just re-affirming myself there.

She did arrive in a minute and proceeded to take out drink orders! She also said that the characters were just finishing up their breakfast and would be out shortly! The girls and I needed to use the washroom so we headed up the stairs to do so and when we returned there was food arriving at the table!
Chalk up another benefit for having bladder control; and a family of children of the opposite gender.

Since the breakfast was a replacement for Crystal Palace while it was under refurb we were some of the priviledged few who were able to taste its yumminess! There is no link to a menu for this breakfast so you will just have to trust me when I tell you that it was SO GOOD!!!
I have read about American style breakfasts of the period and I was not disappointed. It was also so fattening that my cholesterol and blood sugar seemed to be in a race to the stratosphere.

First brought out was a basket of rolls, croissants and danishes. The chocolate croissants were so delish! Next to be brought out was a bowl of fresh fruit which was just so nice and sweet! The hot food came next and was simply divine! There was a big bowl of scrambled eggs, a huge stuffed french toast thing and a very large plate of meat (bacon, ham and sausage) and potatoes. Everything was sooooo yummy!
”]”Huge stuffed Fench Toast Thing”, aka, breakfast peach cobbler I believe. And the cream cheese croissants made the chocolate ones all so “meh” in comparison.

DSC04355.jpg

DSC04363.jpg

DSC04364.jpg

DSC04365.jpg

The characters arrived one at a time while we were eating and they were all in a playful mood! Chip and Dale joked around, Pluto was being very silly and Minnie was just so sweet in her Colonial outfit! We took lots of pictures but these are the best, sorry if they are a bit fuzzy.
Of course they are fuzzy, they are Chip and Dale!

Chip and Dale were hilarious. They played jokes and pranks on us, and even with some comedic sense and timing I felt awestruck and overwhelmed by the enormous tree rodents skill.

That was another sentence that I don’t ever get to say at work.

DSC04356.jpg

DSC04359.jpg

DSC04367.jpg

I’d warn Dale about the little imp behind him, but he deserves a good pranking himself.

DSC04373.jpg

DSC04379.jpg

The pictures are fuzzy because the characters were going by so fast and also because we were so hopped up on sugar none of us could say a straight sentence, never mind stand still or hold a camera without jittering like an epileptic in an earthquake.

Just as we were finishing up and thought we couldn't possibly eat another bite, the servers came around and sang Happy Birthday to Emily and presented her with a cupcake! She was so full she couldn't eat more than a couple bites so she asked one of the servers if she could have it put into a paper cup and take it to go! The were very happy to do that for her and even gave her some paper napkins as well!

DSC04383.jpg
If there was ever a look that said ”My lord; more food. I couldn’t be happier. Now Dad get that gorram camera outa my face and put this food away before I loose breakfast on you.”, this was it.

As we were heading out of the restaurant we were told that because it was not yet 9am and the park had not officially opened yet that we were not actually allowed to leave the vicinity of the restaurant! We were asked to either stay inside LTT or just on the front porch until we were told it was okay to go! While were waiting to go, Natalie took the opportunity to draw a picture! Here it is!

DSC04385.jpg
It is cool to just enjoy the park before it is open. So serene and open, like a meadow as the sun clears the trees and makes the dew glisten. My ultimate Disney experience would be to wander the parks before they open, just at dawn, and take in each street and storefront without anyone complaining about line lengths or nonsense about the quality of the food.

At exactly 9am, the fanfare and music began as people were let into the park! We took off ”](At a pace that would provoke injury in all but Olympic speed walkers)
in search of adventure and magic to start our day!

CHAPTER 16: THE FINAL COUNTDOWN

We arrived back at the Magic Kingdom I think about 5:30pm. There was Evening EMH that night and we were determined to hold out as long as possible. It was only until 11pm so I was fairly confident we could do it! The only problem was it was so DARN cold!!! I checked the historical records for that day and I believe that it was only 8 degrees Celsius that evening, which for you in the south means about 46 Fahrenheit! Twas a wee bit chilly!! Brrr!

DSC04735.jpg

Anywho, we made our way down MAin Street with a single goal in mind. We had to have our picture taken by a Photopass person with us in our nice Matchy match shirts on! We had forgotten to wear them earlier in the day when it was a bit warmer! Oops! We found a Photopass person and proceeded to strip off all our warm layers and pose for the picture! It was a very cold 5 minutes!

Image0727.jpg

Image0729.jpg

Once that was done, we made our way back to Toontown to take some nice pictures of Minnie and Mickey's houses because we knew full well that they would no longer be there when we returned next! Disney had just announced (only a couple of weeks before this trip) the FL expansion and the total decimation of Toontown! I have a photo of my sister and I in front of a totally dofferent Mickey's house from 1991!! There have been MANY changes in "Toontown" over the years - I will be very sad when it is no longer there!

DSC04736.jpg

DSC04739.jpg

After our farewell to the mouse houses, Em decided that she wanted to ride Barnstormer and Natalie declared her self to be hungry! So Em and I waited in the very short line to ride Goofy's coaster and Ken took NAt to go get some Popcorn! This was the first and only time I have ever ridden that little coaster and I must say it WAS FUN!!! I am a bit sad that I may never ride it as it is again!

DSC04740.jpg

That done we descended into the County Bounty shop to let Emily make herself a My Little Pony box and use up a few snack credits. Ken had also decided that he needed a set of Mickey Ears! Em did her pony box, I browsed for and purchased several snacks and Ken found his Mickey ears! I tried to convince him to get some pirate ones but he chose the standard issue black ears on a black hat! He wears them at work when he gets frustrated with his job!

When we were finished in the store it was dark out and getting close to trytofindagoodseatforwishes time! We found a GREAT spot right in the hub in front of the castle just to the right on the Tomorrowland side! We perched ourselves right beside a garbage can so nobody could steal our spot! The girls were claiming hunger so Ken went to use up the remaining CS credits at Cosmic Rays. While we were waiting I dug out the glow necklaces Sheree (MNDisneyGirl) had given them! The girls were very happy to sit and play with the necklaces and people watch while we held down the fort and waited for Daddy to bring provisions!

It was about this time that my stomach decided to do a repeat performance from earlier in the day! YUP - the stomachache returned! GROAN!!! I didn't quite feel like I needed to hurl, but I didn't feel like dancing and singing either! Oh well, I sucked it up and tried to ignore it, hoping that it would just go away!

Ken arrived back with the food just before Wishes started and the girls ate their chicken nuggets and fries with great gusto as they watched for Tinkerbell to make her appearance! We all enjoyed our final viewing of Wishes and managed to keep the spot stealers at bay! Sigh, I really love Wishes! BEST. FIREWORKS. EVER!!! I forgot about my tummy ache for a few minutes!

DSC04742.jpg

DSC04748.jpg

DSC04749.jpg

DSC04750.jpg

Once Wishes was over and the stampede of non EMH people began we slowly and carefully made our way behind the castle to see what the kines were like! I seem to remember there being a washroom break in there as well! The first request was for the Teacups! I knew that there was no way I would be going on that ride so I sent KEn and the girls on by themselves! I watched them spin themselves dizzy while trying to keep warm.

I am having a hard time remembering the order of events next but I know that we went on Peter Pan, saw Philharmagic, and I think Natalie may have even ridden on Dumbo! The lines began to get quite long in Fantasyland and we had already done everything we wanted to do in Tomorrowland so we headed over to Frontierland and Adventureland!

As we passed through Liberty Square, the girls noticed the stocks and begged for a photo opportunity! Nat was a bit short yet so I had to help her!

DSC04751.jpg

DSC04752.jpg

DSC04753.jpg

Again, my memory is getting a bit fuzzy on details but I do remember seeing The Country Bear show and riding Thunder Mountain at LEAST 3 times in a row!!!

We headed back to Fantasyland and rode IASW and the Carrousel. By that point it was well after 10pm and I was feeling extremely horrible! I was exhausted and my stomach hurt so bad and it was sooo cold that I really wasn't having fun anymore! We decided to call it a night. We made our way through the castle and stopped for a few last pictures and even met up with a lone Photopass photographer! We ended our trip with the very same Photopass photo that we started with on our first night!! How very appropriate!

DSC04759.jpg

DSC04765.jpg

Image0730.jpg

We very slowly made our way down Main St and out of the park towards the bus stop! I was so sad to be leaving and feeling so nasty that I really don't even remember seeing the See You Real Soon sign! Not a great way to end a wonderful trip!

At any rate we made it back to POFQ and I took the girls back to the room to get ready for bed. Ken went to the Sassy to grab some Hot Chocolate and to try to find something to settle my aching tummy. He ended up bringing me a mini bottle of wine!! I LOVE my hubby - he is THE BEST!!!

The girl were tucked in, the suitcases were packed and I had a bottle of wine!!! I drew myself a bath and took my wine into the tubby and soaked in some hot bubbles and tried not to think about the fact that I was leaving the very next morning! A hot bath, a bottle of wine and half a roll of tums later I was feeling MUCH better! I believe it was about midnight when I crawled into bed for the last time and fell asleep!

Up NEXT - departure day and last thoughts!
