Lightning lane with child swap. Should I bother?

Specifically for Space mountain, instead of walking the kid all the way over there and coming back to ride Buzz. What are the benefits of the child swap if we already have lightning lane passes for everyone? (Also, does the lightning lane disappear once you have the child swap pass?)
