Lighthouse Point- Port side or starboard??

Probably a totally guess but would anyone know if we’re booking a cruise to lighthouse Point if we should do Port or Starboard for the stateroom. In reality it really won’t matter but just curious since this seems to be a topic when it comes to Castaway Cay!!! Thanks so much!!

I'd imagine that like most ports there is no guarantee - it could change depending on the needs of the ship (like if they need to do maintenance on the other side or drill lifeboats on the other side). EVEN at Castaway it's not guaranteed that port will be against the pier.

I asked this question yesterday! Great minds!

My preference was starboard for the inaugural cruise but we got port. I drew a very inconclusive conclusion yesterday (is there such a thing) that based on the satellite images it looked like port would be the island view.

I can’t imagine this was even a thought when the dock/route was being planned, but it had crossed my mind as to whether the planners would try to mix it up so you get a starboard view at Castaway and a port view at LP (knowing those are not guaranteed of course).

The illustration on the main website does seem to show that the dock will be more extended with a walkway sort of like there is in Cozumel. I would guess part of that is to make it more flexible so that the ship can come in which ever way it needs to. Obviously, the winds and tides can affect lots of things, but at least, based on this current illustration, it seems like it would be easier to maneuver the ship. I know that sometimes CC is completely missed just because they can’t dock.

I changed cabins today for other reasons, but it happened to move us from starboard to port side. I'm hoping I didn't give up the view in the process.

Have there been any updates to this question? Any idea which side faces the island?

Im really hoping for port side. I had starboard side but then chose to upgrade and only port side was available.

We unfortunately will not have an answer until some sailings get going. Ultimately, it usually is up to the captain for what side. Even in Castaway they do not guarantee which side of the ship (although I'm not sure I've ever heard of it being port side but still).

We are going on a cruise Jan 2025 that does both CC and LP. We opted for Starboard side of the ship

The captains do prefer to back in, but sometimes there is needed maintenance or lifeboat drills. I am sure someone has a picture - @PrincessShmoo ?

Every time we've been to CC we've backed in. For the longer ships (at least), they have to 'shoot' out ropes to anchor to at a 'satellite pier' of sorts. They always shoot them from port side forward; not sure if they'd have them starboard aft (if the ship pulled in).

Yes, they could. The ship can tie up in both directions.

I am very disappointed that you do not have a picture. You have them for everything!
Well I do have pictures of a lifeboat drill, but it was on the Fantasy on our Southern Caribbean cruise, this was Tortola.

I do have pictures of the Dream and Magic backed into CC, also.

I believe, early on, they would pull forward in CC for docking. Until the time the weather got bad while in port and they had BIG issues backing out of the port. Since then they back in, because going forward in less than desirable seas is "easier" than backing out.
