I am in the process of losing weight and trying to make healthier food choices. Even though WDW will be a vacation and I will be eating for fun and adventure more than nutrients, :upsidedow I do want to make some somewhat healthy choices for a few of my meals and snacks.

Anyway have any "light" or "healthy" choices for meals and/or snacks while at WDW? What did you like? What didn't you like?

Instead of fries and stuff now, you have the option of getting apple slices, sometimes carrots, stuff like that. There are also fruit stands in all the parks, which we use as a healthier alternative and we stick with water instead of soda and stuff. I've also heard they're switching to whole wheat in some locations too. Sounds good to me.

My dad and I were doing (and are still doing) a low carb diet and we found lots of healthy and different snacks in Walt Disney World. We hate the veggie cups and we got the nuts! Also we were on the dining plan and got no sugar added deserts and such. The Minnie Bars are basically all fruit and are a delicious treat especially in the hotter months. Truthfully with all the walking you do, it really doesn't matter what food you wat! The yoguart cups (we stayed at POP) were awesome tooo!!!!!!

As far as resturants, Spoodles was a good choice, and so was Le cellier.

Sunshine Seasons in the Land at Epcot has great soups and salads...same goes for WPE in DTD

Our lunch at the Tusker House had lots of great low calorie foods that were so tasty. Cous Cous, Hummous, Veggies in curry etc... it was terrific.

i am there too, just started my diet with LA WL and will be on the regular program just before we leave :goodvibes. I do want to watch my waistline but i have all the great restaurants booked and i know i am in for it. I do want to try the desserts as they come with each TS but will need healthy options, if there is such a thing?

I am diabetic and vegan, so most desserts are not an option for me. When using the dining plan, I usually just ask if I can have some fruit, and it's never been a problem - I get a nice assortment of fruit in a bowl or on a plate. The counterservice places usually have fruit as well (grapes, apples, oranges, bananas) and they've always let me substitute those for a dessert.

Instead of french fries, I ask for one of the kid's meal sides (carrots, grapes, applesauce). They've always happily made that substitution for me.

Each park has a fruit and vegetable cart - a great place to get snacks.

The chocolate-covered frozen bananas are very good too - and vegan!

There's wraps and things at some CS locations. Might not be that healthy, but probably healthier than a hamburger. At Pecos Bills they have one filled with grilled chicken, lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and ranch. I'm sure you could ask for a subsitute for ranch. :)

Good luck. You'll walk a lot though, so don't worry toooo much.
