Hello
I purchased a light up pin that would turn itself on during parades or outside certain attractions. I am taking it back next week and wonder if it will still work? I have the edition that was the studios, with sorcerer mickey's hat with 4 or 5 multicolored lights. There was also the castle, the tree of life, and the golf ball. anyone else have these pins?

We also have these pins from 2000 an 2001. The batteries died after awhile. I believe they also gave you an extra set of batteries in the packaging of the pins. We brought these pins back to Disney and at one store in Epcot (I don't remember which) they gave us new batteries. If all else fails, you can purchase new batteries. I believe the backs screw off with a small screw driver (like for eye glasses). The batteries that fit in these pins are like watch batteries. It was really cool to be on different rides and at Fantasmic and have the pins go crazy lighting up.

I wondered the same thing! We bought one for DS on his 3rd b-day trip in 2002. We're going next May for DD's 3rd b-day trip and wondered if his pin would still light up. When did you go to WDW and found that they still lit up, Linda? Recently? He would love it if it would still light up with the parades! I still have the extra batteries too. Wonder if they still work! :earsboy:

Pins - I believe there are two different types of pins that came out different years. The first did not have a switch that you could turn and off and the batteries died (this is the type we had and we purchsed them in 2000). The second has a switch that you could turn on and off so the batteries lasted longer (I beleive it also had a game in it but I am not sure). As our batteries had died when we went back in 2001, we were able to get replacement batteries from a CM. I got the impression that do not do this all the time - we just happened to run into a very nice CM at one of the stores. I am sure you can purchase replacement batteries - if not at a regular store, at a camera store. I know I used this same pin when we were there in 2003 and I believe I just put new batteries in it. I don't remember if I used it when we were down there last November. We are going down this May for my birthday and will bring them with us again. I am sure at this point I will need new batteries.

When is your DS's birthday. Mine is 5/23 and we will be spending the day in the MK (although I am slightly older then 3). Maybe we will be celebrating our day together.

Thanks for the info., Linda! My DS's b-day is in November -- he'll be 6 this year. We're the cheapskates who take them to WDW JUST before they turn 3 so they're still free. We're going next May for my daughter's 3 b-day which is in July. Make any sense? :rotfl2: Well, I'm not going to do Florida on July 22!!!!! So, we're going to celebrate in May. We're actually doing a week at WDW and then doing a 4 day cruise (I think it leaves the 14th of May). I can't wait! Happy almost birthday (well, one month away)!

Linda we'll be at MK the same day! How much were these pins and where could you get them?

I found that they were 15, but maybe you can find them cheaper elsewhere?

For awhile the outlets had a few for I think $4 each. But even that was long ago.
The larger ones the batteries can always be replaced.
As example:
Pin 19353: WDW - Magical Moments (4 Parks) Light Up

I can't imagine they would not still work (as long as the batteries are replaced). It is sensors that make the pins light up. Or they light up even when squeezed or pressed.

Dementia, sorry it took so long for me to get back. Yes, we will be in MK on 5/23 - doing lunch in the castle at 1:00 and dinner in CP at I believe 6:30. As far as the light up pins go I will probably bring mine and change the batteries. I think I still have some left. What are your plans for 5/23?

No worries at all :)

Let me ask you, Monday is supposed to be the busiest day at MK, how do you plan on coping with that?

My plans for 5/23, well we're going to be there at rope drop, and we have a PS at Chef Mickey's for my birthday (the 18th but we're celebrating that day) @ 10:50 for brunch. Other than that we'll just be there all day :)

Have you heard about these NEW light up medallions????

HCOE Interactive Glow Medallion

(read on another site)

*want!!!!!*

The Happiest Celebration on Earth Interactive Glow Medllions are now on sale!

They're only sold in stores where you'll "officially" find Pal Mickey sold as well.

It's a gold mouse-ear shaped thingy with a blue bkacground and gold logo castle set into the large mickey-circle. It can be worn as a pin or comes with a neckstrap/lanyard it can clip onto. It says Walt Disney World in blue text at the bottom and the rest is outlined in tiny gold LED's. 15 to be exact. Then around the castle it has larger red, green, and blue LEDs.

It works just like the old Magic Moment pins, but is now minus the glassy-face finish. The package says it for folks age 5+, it has 18 lights, and can do 10 different light shows.

Pushing Pal Mickey's hand in the vicinity makes it do one of the light shows. Retail price is $15.02, it comes with spare batteries, an on/off switch on the back, and button on the side to make it blink whenever you want.

Not sure about how we will deal with MK. We are usually in WDW at least two times a year so I am not crazed about doing anything. We have been there the past four or five years for NYE so we are very used to crowds. Although we were also there this past November right after Thanksgiving and the park was really empty. We'll get FP for whatever we can, I really want to catch the 3:00 parade and SpectroMagic and Wishes. If it really gets too crazy I guess we could always hop over to Epcot and check out the Flower and Garden show. I also love riding the monorail and visiting the different hotels so maybe we will do that. Just spending my birthday in WDW will be wonderful so we usually do not let crowds bother us. Don't forget to get a birthday button (even though it is few days after your actual birthday - you will be celebrating down there).

I haven't heard about the new light up buttons, guess we'll have to check them out when we get down there.

Just got back from our trip. Yes, I had one of the park pins (mgm) with sorcerer mickey's hat. I got batteries at WalMart and sure enough, the pin still worked. It went off when we got to Tower of Terror and also at Fantasmic and at the magic kingdom during Spectromagic. I purchased a new light up pin with mouse ears and it is also interactive. Supposedly, also with pal mickey. Had a great time.
