Santa accidentally bought a knock off case on Ebay. Did not know someone would do that!! Now I need to find a real one for daughters phone but they are way more expensive. Had No clue they were so much. Anyone know of a sale on a real one???

I don't think they need to put them on sale, demand is high. They have been sold out on their website most of the time since the iPhone five came out.

My son asked for one for Christmas (he has a 4s) and I purchased it....all $80 of it. Two days later its off his phone because he says he hates it and its the worst case ever. Now I'm stuck with it and he's out a gift, which is his own fault for not doing more research. He says after looking into it many people have the same issues he does. My point is you may wanna really sit down with her and research cases before investing in LifeProof. :confused3

They were for sale before christmas time on amazon.
Have you checked there?
Just the 4 not 5.

oh I didn't know that... sorry

I feel your pain. I bought DD a Survivor case along with her new ipad because she can be careless at times. I did research about what the most protective case was, but had no idea that once it's on, it's pretty much on for good. I have to return the speaker system we got her because the ipad won't dock on it with the case on.

I bought DD's Pink one (Iphone 4s) on Amazon for $58 this summer- it even states it comes in retail packaging, and it looks just like DS's blue one we paid $80 for at Best Buy. It looks like now most of them are around $46 on Amazon.

My kids loved having these cases over the summer since they could use them in the pool. Most of their friends also have them, and I haven't heard any complaints, except that you can only use certain chargers and headphones, or use an adaptor (the case comes with one.) But, for it to be completely waterproof, it has to have those tight seals.

I have the 4, and my case was just about $90 at bestbuy a few months ago. Cheaper than buying a new iphone, though!

What are his issues? When I did some reading on them, I noticed that responders to people with issues were telling them that they hadn't put the case on correctly. It's a tricky case to put on, and you have to invest some time in it to do it right.

I did the whole thing it tells me to. Put it together without the phone. Did the water test where you have it in water for a certain amount of time and make sure there are no leaks. Once it (and you, really) passes that test, make sure it's dry and put it on the phone.

I've taken it off a couple times (sometimes I just have to visit my pretty little iphone4, but then it looks so naked and vulnerable, the little glassy thing, that I can't even touch it unless I'm sitting on my mattress with pillows, LOL...I'm only *barely* exaggerating here), and once I had to re-do it within the hour. I hadn't smoothed the front of the case down as I was putting it on, and there was too much air in there, so the touchscreen wasn't as easy as it should be, and the sound on it was buzzy and difficult.

Took it apart, carefully of course, put it back together, voila, marvelous beautiful touchy good-sound-y phone again!

It's definitely worth it, though. Not a week after I got them, I was really distracted when my MIL went into the hospital for the 3rd time with another stroke, and I had put the phone down on top of my stuff. Went to pick up some of my stuff and the phone went flying across the hard hospital floor. Not a single problem at all with the case or phone.

DH makes fun of me b/c I still have the instructions sticker on the back of the phone, but I like having it there. Since it's a tricky case, but very important to do right, I don't mind having the instructions right there.

According to the Lifeproof site Amazon is not an authorized seller....so worried about buying another knock off..

I just looked at their site. After (too) many clicks, I find that they actually don't say that.

They say " Amazon.com Only buy from stores that state: "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com” or “Ships from and sold by LifeProof”". Link here.

But it was not simple to find. Main page, click through the "don't buy from...3rd Party Amazon....", "Genuine LifeProof products are only available through reputable, authorized retailers", click through LifeProof Resellers "See all", and THAT is when you see the above.

The cheap price (wow that's cheap) is shipped from and sold by amazon.

And even if somehow amazon managed to be fooled and sell a bad product, you would be protected. Even if you bought a sneaky fake from a seller, amazon would protect you. That's the "a to z guarantee", it protects buyers from sneaky fake sellers.

(DH used to work in the 3rd party department, and even though he was officially supporting sellers, he did indeed help support buyers and make sure sellers were doing the right thing! if the seller won't, amazon will, especially in the case of a counterfeit.)

But all that's moot, since lifeproof tells us that if it's sold directly by amazon, then it's OK.

My DW was one of the ones who 'swore by' her lifeproof case....
She loved it - thought it was perfect in every way!

However, I HATED that D@&# case!

Every time I would call her it would sound like her head was in a bucket!

The plug for the headphone jack is easily lost (it is not attached)

And just over a year after purchase, it started falling apart and cracking.

The charge port cover on the bottom cracked and fell off, one of the bottom corners cracked, and the whole thing was just horrible!

However, the Ballistic case I bought over two years ago is still in perfect condition in nearly every way - and survived Splash Mountain at Disneyland - when my DW's Otter Box failed her in every way!

We actually had a really scary experience on Splash Mountain at Disneyland. The log cars at Disneyland are very narrow, so when going around tight corners, they can tip a little... well, with three adults in the car who are fluffier than the average brer bear... the weight can tip the cars and flood them! Off topic... a little... but a great case of what case stands the test of the WORLD....(WDW) HAHA

In my opinion, if a case makes using the phone a pain... then the case should be left on the shelf.

The only problem I have with my Ballistic case is that it can be hard to touch the far edges of the screen... BUT, they have to have a ride around the edge to protect the screen... BUT, none-the-less, it is a pain at times!

That's the first thing I do every time I put it back on the phone, is call DH to make sure it sounds right. It was one of the things that caused me to take it off and put it back on again, because it didn't sound right to DH.

It's a pretty odd plastic, and the instructions say to be extremely careful while taking off the case so you don't break it. I can see how it could get tricky as time goes on.

Have you looked Into an otter box case? Love mine and it has saved my iPhone from damage many many times.

I got a lifeproof case before Christmas because I found one at a great price & thought it would be good with a toddler. So far I am not a fan. The photos I take all come out messed up (blurred around the edges) and it is bulky. I used to have an otterbox & eventually took it off because I couldn't stand how bulky that was but of the two I prefer the otterbox. Lifeproof protects it from the toddler but if I didn't have a toddler I would've returned the case. It definitely does not live up to the hype at all!

I'm with bumber on this. I love my lifeproof case on my 4s. I've accidentally thrown it across the floor, dropped it in a puddle, etc. I've had no problems with mine at all. Now, I will say that some car chargers don't fit, but I just use my white cord. We have an adapter for both the iphone and droid so it works well using the white cords.
