Lifeguarding as a CP?

Does anyone know if you put down that you want to be a lifeguard it will increase your chance of getting in? Because it requires a special skill.

Also if I put down on the app that my top choice of job is lifeguarding do you reccomend putting down any other job or is being a lifeguard enough?

If you only put down lifeguard, and they don't want you as a lifeguard, you will not get in. If you really want to do the CP, put down anything and everything you are willing to do. I don't think putting down life guard will help you any more than any other option.

My son is currently a lifeguard in the CP. He has been a lifeguard for the past 7 years. He put lifeguarding as his 1st choice, recreation and hospitality were his 2nd and 3rd. I think it is the job experience that mattered more than the lifeguard experience. He told me many of the new CPs he has been training with have never been lifeguards. The initial swim test given their first day was pretty basic. They then had an additional 2 1/2 days of lifeguard certification before they go to their assigned work locations. So while it will be helpful to have had the work experience lifeguarding experience is not necessary
