Via the Rent/Trade Board, I met this DVC member, Kathi, who rented points from me and we actually got to meet during our trip around Labor Day. She just had her last surgery from breast cancer, with a 6 year old DD. It was a celebration for her to go down to her favorite place on earth for that trip, shortly after her last surgery.

We had the fortune of meeting her, her SIL and her beautiful 6 year old DD.

We kept in touch this whole time and I was just told that her husband is diagnosed with cancer which spreads to all his body except his heart and brain........ He is only 50 years old!!!! On top of it all, she just lost her father last year due to prostate cancer........

Kathi has been a great friend and she is the one whom I can talk about Disney at any time. She is even a bigger fan than me.

She is always postive, funny, and always makes me laugh when I get her e-mail no matter how tough my day is.

Through this, I feel really fortunate to have this forum to meet some of the most wonderful people that I would not have otherwise met and we can always talk about our Disney addiction.

She has a trip scheduled for early December at BWV, a time they always go. Now the trip is in jeopardy, and MS told her today that she can cancel her reservation anytime until one week prior to arrival and they will let her bank her points.

I am so glad to hear that DVC MS always bends backwards for members for extraordinary circumstances.

Thank you for the DVC and Rent/Trade Forum for me to get into DVC and get to meet some of the nicest people!!!

Please pray for Kathi and her family and I sincerely hope for the best for whatever it is.

I couldn't pass through without saying something, but I have no idea what to say.:( :( This is SO sad.

Thanks for sharing....Prayers to Kathi and her family...

Kathi and her family will be in my thoughts and prayers. Hope they're able to make that December trip to BWV. It sounds like this family has already been through more than I could even imagine.

Kathi is also a Dis Member and she posts sporadically. She and I started exchanging e-mails in April and we got to meet her in late August because she found out from her doctor that she could travel shortly after her surgery during the time we were down at WDW. So she flew down for the same dates like ours and we spend some times together.

She lives outside of Boston. Via the Marriott timeshare, I exchanged and got a week in the summer in 2004 at the Marriott Custom House in Boston. We are looking foward to meeting her and her DD while up there. I just cannot understand sometimes why things happen like this!!! It makes me SO SO sad that I cannot get this out of my mind.

My prayers goes out to this family. With prayers coming from all who frequent this thread, miracles do happen.

"Dear Father I pray that you may heal the disease that runs rampant in Kati's and her husband bodies, for you are truly the magical king and the highest miracle maker of all. Amen"

I also don't know what to say. For a family with a small child to face so much cancer is sad. Prayers to all of them.

I do know one thing to say --- Cancer is a horrible disease that effects so many. We must find a cure. :(

I feel for her. My Dad died at 45 of brain cancer. I was 21 at the time, and also had 2 sisters 24 & 13 and a brother, 14. It was difficult for everyone to watch. Too young to be suffering like this.

I will pray for the health and contentness of her family tonight and the days to come.

Please tell Kathi that we will keep her and her family in our prayers. I hope they will be able to take their December trip and it will be the most magical one ever.

Please keep us posted.

Donna

Adding my prayers, some hugs and a mega dose of pixiedust for the entire family. This is a terrible disease. Hoping and praying for a miracle!!! There are some really good medical facilities in the Boston area. Here's hoping!!!

In a family affected by cancer, I can understand what she is going through. I hope all works out for Kathi and her family. I am sending them a little Disney magic and some pixie dust, too! You are in my thoughts!

IMHO cancer is the disease that needs to have the most money and research efforts committed to curing. It only takes looking at several generations of nearly everyone's family to find cancer, other than smoking, affecting people through no action of their own.

Our heartfelt prayers and thoughts to this dear family in their time of need.

Thanks for the heads up about a caring fellow DVC DISer.

Prayers for Kathie and her DH and father, and especially for that precious DD of hers.

Just wanted to add my thoughts and prayers for Kathi and her family. May God grant them the strength and courage they will all need in the days to come.

Kathi and her entire family are in my prayers. So sad.

Kathi certainly helps to put things in perspective. Room requests and ROFR aren't a blip in life, really. God bless Kathi, her family and all who care for them.

How terribly sad. Really drives home the point that you should do the things you enjoy with those you love whenever you can...there are no guaranteed tomorrows.
Our prayers are with Kathi and her family...
