Just curious, with the popularity of character dining why the change at Liberty Tree last Feb ? Did a search but was unable to find anything, if this has been discussed ad nauseum I am sorry.

was early 2009 when they stopped the characters there, so it's been a year & half...probably why you're not finding much on it. There was a lot of chatter about it in early 2009, along with a lot of discussion of other cut-backs they made around then.

That was right after the economy tanked in Fall 2008...and there were big cut-backs all over. Park hours, shows like Fantasmic, etc. all had big cut-backs. It was a budget cut, plain & simple. They still fill the seats at LTT...which is probably what they figured would happen. Personally, we thought the characters were really cute...and made the meal worth going. Without characters, think that dinner meal is just meh.

When we were there in January there was character dining at Liberty Tree Tavern. However, this was a temporary thing. It was only offered because Crystal Palace was closed for refurbishment.

Sorry to report that our fam...will not be going back to LTT as a result this year...No fun at all.. :sad2:

Oh I like the characters, but gorsh, we empty-nesters have to have a character-free option for our table service din-din too. Besides, the CM ladies in their colonial garb does it for me. DW wouldn't let me go anywhere near the castle. I melt when I see Cinderella.

The characters were cut (saving money), but the price wasn't. What's more, without the characters, tables tend to turn a little faster---people leave when they are done eating, rather than hang around for "one more character" to visit. In a park that routinely books out its restaurants well in advance, turning the tables faster makes sense. I don't think they will return until after Gaston's opens, and maybe not even then.

. . . absolutely
. . . there are just too many character meals at MK
. . . WAY too many for one park
. . . we had no where to eat without kids yelling/running after characters

. . . yep
. . . they worked the numbers
. . . even when the eatery is not fully booked, they make more money
. . . less manpower, faster table turns

There are only five TS restaurants in MK, and two of those are character meals all day long.

One of the best things about MNSSHP was going to LTT--the characters in their halloween costumes, the LTT ambience--PERFECT for a Sleepy Hollow kind of mood :) It's really a shame they kicked 'em out. LTT lost out on that one. We have no desire to return w/out the characters.

I'm with you. The characters were what got me into this restaurant. Most of the times I ate there the food was overdone. And I don't get how they can call Ham "Roast Pork". I know ham is made from pork but where I come from Roast Pork is fresh pork not cured ham slathered in mustard.

I agree with this. We loved seeing the characters in their little costumes. It was one of our favorite things to do during the party. We were so sad to see the characters go. We have and will continue to go back to Liberty Tree Tavern, though. But instead of dinner, it looks like we will become lunch patrons.

Personally I am glad its not characters anymore, it makes it easier to eat here..I just wish they would change the dinner menu and offer the lunch menu all the time

we miss the characters. Last time we went, they were not there, and it was ok, but not "great" the first time we went.
