We had a party of seven and since four were on dining plan, it made sense for them to get the platter. Our three were planning to ask if they could do the turkey dinner for us because I didn’t want to pay for all that food. We never asked about the turkey dinner but instead decided to make ordering easy and get the platter too.
First were the rolls which were really good salty rolls with a light honey glaze....the salty and sweet was so good. The salad wasn’t fresh....I wish they would dress the salad just before it comes out...the lettuce was soggy and wilted...yuck.
They changed the platter for the better since we went last year by adding the pot roast to it. This was the first time we tried the pot roast and it was fantastic! We loved the turkey too! I didn’t understand the seasoning choice on the pork....it was seasoned with chili powder which didn’t go with the rest of the meal IMO. None of us liked the pork at all.
The potatoes, stuffing, and beans were all really good too. The cranberry sauce wasn’t as good as in the past....it was super sour and one of the spices was way too strong.
I wish they would put more serving utensils on the table. There was just a small set of tongs for everything which was a pain when the pototoes and stuffing and Mac n cheese stuck to it and then you tried to get meat. We ended up using clean forks for serving which didn’t work well on cranberry sauce.
The dessert was a buttery chocolate chip cookie pressed in a large tin with ice cream, chocolate chips and Carmel sauce. We were stuffed before dessert but we couldn’t leave the dessert uneaten because it was so good.
With the addition of the pot roast, we would do this platter again but tell them to keep the chili pork.
