Wanted to get peoples opinion of Liberty Tree Tavern for dinner. Specifically is the food at the Liberty Tree Tavern pretty much like the food at the character dinner at the Crystal Palace? We aren't snobs about food at all - burgers and fries are fine. But, last year, we ate at the Crystal Palace and actually were kind of disappointed. We thought that the turkey seemed like it was cut off a processed turkey roll and that some of the other food wasn't all that tasty at the Crystal Palace. If the food at Liberty Tree Tavern is similar, we might pass. I appreciate the opinions.

I don't remember the turkey being bad by any means...the ham was great! My kids went crazy over it this passed October. We were honestly so pleased we went ahead and booked it again for our next trip in June. I didn't care for the mac n cheese, but I was happy with the meal!
Goofy was alot of fun as well!

My dd loves this - she's 11 - I love that the food comes to me - there is more variety at Crystal Palace - so its truly a give and take -

They make the food in large quantity so I dont think its a great food place - but its simple, and dd loves it, and that's good enough for me!! We have gotten great character interaction, and that's a bonus!! (and as an aside I'll never order/get the birthday cake there again - just a so so cake that they keep frozen and thaw... no big deal! so not worth any price!)

we love LTT and do it every trip. The food is yummy and is a nice variety from what you find at other character meals, it's more like sitting down to a home cooked meal. The meat plate has steak, ham, and turkey, all of which are delicious. You also get sides of mashed potatoes, green beans, mac n' cheese, salad, and dinner rolls, and for dessert - amazing apple cobbler with vanilla ice cream! :cloud9:

The character meals are more about atmosphere. With that said, I did enjoy LTT - thought the dessert was the best. Like pp :cloud9:

We ate here for the first time this year before the MVMCP and we absolutely loved it. It will be on our return list for our next trip in 2009. The food is fabulous, the character interaction was great, and the overall ambiance felt just like Colonial Williamsburg (after all I do live here and it is very similar to Christiana Campbell's Tavern). I hope you enjoy it!!

Plain and simple, it's "comfort food." We all love LTT, even though some seem to "look down their noses" at the food...

LTT is the one place we won't miss on our trips. My DH and DS love not only the character interaction but the food as well. I had heard rumor that because Stouffers sponsors it that it was all frozen Stouffers food so I happened to ask our waiter last time if the food was made by Stouffers. He said only the Mac n cheese is (probably why some don't like it as well as other WDW mac n cheese) but everything else is made fresh in the kitchen there. The Turkey was really good there. Like you we were really dissappointed with CP last year but we only had breakfast there.

HTH

Love it! The turkey and ham are some of the best I've had anywhere and the salad is really good. The entire meal is delicious IMHO. Awesome character interaction too!

We tried it last year and it wasn't as good as we hoped it would be. We certainly didn't look down our noses at the food, but it wasn't very good. The best part were the rolls and the dessert. The dinner just ok. But I'm generally in the minority about LTT so I say give it a try.

We really like LTT. It is served family style so there is not as much variety as a buffet. We were last there in August and the food was fine.

Liberty Tree is one of my favorite restaurants on property!!

I love a Thanksgiving meal that I don't have to cook:goodvibes :thumbsup2

In all seriousness though - we think the food is good, and the character interaction was great also :thumbsup2

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. Great to hear that most people like the Liberty Tree Tavern so I think we'll stick with our PS on our upcoming trip. Again, we're not all that fussy about food. Since it seems like the fare is fairly straight-forward comfort food, I'm sure it will be fine. We've been eager to try it LTT and I appreciate the comments.

I was wondering about the food too. Sounds like a place my family would enjoy.

From what I've found it looks like you can expect to see Minnie, Pluto and Goofey. Does that sound right?

I guess my family is in the minority here. While the character interaction was terrific and our waiter was very nice and attentive, we really disliked the food at LTT. Our the ham, turkey and beef were all dry without a lot of the generic gravy. It also felt like way too much starch - rolls, potatoes, stuffing, mac and cheese, gravy and pie. The salad was decent and we did like the warm apple pie with ice cream for dessert but the coffee was yech. We eat a lot of salad and vegetables so that was part of the problem. I don't think I could talk my husband into going back.

That place was great coming from a 13 year old. Its a great character dinner with great food.

We love LTT! It is on the top of our list for our next trip! The characters were great! The food was good comfort food.
