Liberty Tree Tavern vs. Tony's Town Square

Now, I know they're totally different restaurants but I'm trying to decide between the two! We have ressies scheduled at both places. Keep in mind too we're not on the dining plan right now, I have to figure out if it makes sense to add it. We booked the room only with a 40% off code and are going to just get our passes when we get there. DH wants to pay cash so that's the way it's being done. I could add dining now and I need to look our ressies and see if it's worth it.

That being said....give me your thoughts on these two places. It would be for dinner at either place.

We prefer Liberty Tavern....Tony's is ok but then it depends on what type of food you like.

We prefer Tony's. The food was good if you like Italian food, nothing out of this world, but good. We had a bad experience at Liberty Tree. The food was all right, we just had awful service which ruined that restaurant for me. Lots of people on DIS love Liberty Tree, not sure what all the hype is about.

I think this is my rationale at this point.

LTT is more expensive and I don't see my DD even eating that much there. She's pretty picky but I know at least with pasta she'll eat.

My reservaton with Tony's is that being picky myself I guess I'm an Italian-food snob. We're from the Boston area and the North End is where it's at for Italian and I'm not sure I'll like it there! Totally snobby I know....I'm leaning towards Tony's just for the sake of what I know my kids will eat and I think it'll work out better that way. I need to print out the menus and have my DH look at them.

we went the Tony's and the thought the food was ok. the service they was very good the night we were there as well. i am an italian so i know good food and it was not bad. it was far from the best i have had but it did the job. if you are thinking about DD then this is were i would go. LT is ok but I an not a huge fan

We love LTT, we have never had a bad experience there. Tonys we have had nothing but bad experiences with...waitress/waiters...they have always been on the snotty side.

I've been to both and hands down I prefer LTT. In my opinion the food was FAR better at LTT. The service was on par with each other and the ambiance and theming was ok for both. For value, I still think LTT is better.

I actually preferred Mama Melrose's to Tony's if you want Italian. But that's just my opinion!

I thought you got more food at Tony's. Definitely left full.
I liked the ambiance at the Liberty Tree Tavern.

* I have to agree with the previous poster. Mama Melrose is the choice for Italian.

LTT hands down. TTS was our WORST dining experience of our trip. food was terrible, atmosphere was terrible, service was terrible, overpriced, waited forever for a table despite ressies...i could go on and on.

I completely agree 100%. Been to both, and I have to say that Tony's had by far the worst food in our 10 day trip. Service was bad too. I asked my son the other day which restaurant was the worst for him at disney, without skipping a beat he said Tony's. I think what ruined it was their tomato sauce. its disgusting. Liberty Tree dinner is a must-do for us at every trip. I just love this place. sooooo very yummy. How can you go wrong with comfort food!?

My parents are going with us this trip and my Dad actually requested LTT. I'm excited to try it.

We did Tony's last September and I wasn't too overly impressed. I'm thinking of trying Mame Melrose this year!

Did you not know that LTT is all you can eat at dinner time????? You definitely get way more food at LTT!!!!

Wow i didnt notice how old this thread was when i responded! LOL! Im glad you picked LTT. Its quite delish, and there's something for everyone. Definitely one of our faves. Tony's makes me gag everytime i think of it. I knew i shouldnt have ordered anything with tomato sauce in it. (kinda sad to say that, since it is an italian restaurant, lol!) Had i gotten the steak maybe it wouldnt have been that bad? Ah well. I wont be going back! Once i have a bad experience, i dont look back.

Our group of 4 adults was there last week.

We ate at LTT (with ADR's) at 11:30am. We just got soup and cold drinks. Used it for a cool indoors place for a little refresher.

We had a late lunch at Tony's (ADR's 3:30pm). It wasn't very crowded and service and food was good. Didn't feel rushed and enjoyed the ac. Our waitress was pleasant and helpful.

All in all I think it just depends on the time day and who your waiter/waitress is.........

Luckily an enjoyable time at both restaurants for us.

We are trying LTT on our upcoming trip for lunch-we've never been but after 2 pretty bad meals at TTS, we are giving LTT a try for our sit-down lunch.

I love Lady & the Tramp AND Italian food and I WANT to love Tony's-but I don't even like it...
