Hey folks - we've never eaten here, but are going in December before the VMCP (which we've never done either). Just wondered if it is good? Food? Character interaction? We'll be going with my parents and it will be their first character meal with our little boy. Reviews?

God bless!

We really love Liberty Tree Tavern. It's always our first lunch at WDW and last year, we finally did the character meal there. The character interaction was great--extra fun with them dressed in colonial costumes. The food was fine, but was almost exactly what we'd had 2 nights earlier at Garden Grill CM (turkey, stuffing, pork loin (?) mashed potatoes, etc.). It was my DS's b'day celebration at LLT and they sang a song to the tune of Yankee Doodle, I'd ordered a small b'day cake ahead of time and they'd kind of decorated our table with confetti, etc. There was also a signed b'day card from the characters there. I'd recommend it--esp. at the holidays!

Well, we just returned and LTT was the overall fave of all our family out of more than a week of dining out. We went to LTT during the MNSSHP all the characters were in halloween masks, the cast of characters that night included Minnie, Pluto, Chip, Dale and Goofy. Minnie and Goofy were in their colonial attire, Minnie had a ghost mask on and goofy did not, Chip and Dale both had a sort of Spider-type mask on (if you ask me if looked a little too much like spiderman for WDW standards) and Pluto had a pumpkin on his head. We were seated so quickly, we didn't have a chance to find a seat to wait in, the waitress was very attentive and quick with our food and drink. They are one of the very few WDW restaurants that had Sweet Tea!! The first part of the meal we were brought out Salad and rolls. the salad usually comes with a strawberry vinaigrette, but none of us like vinaigrette so we requested it plain with ranch on the side. The salad was my least fave of the meal, it was the type of salad that was made up of leaves, no iceburg or romaine, just different leaves. oh well, after the salad our waitress brought out bowls of steamed carrotts, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy, and a huge platter of turkey ham, and sliced steak as well as stuffing. It was a great meal, everything tasted great, great character interaction, most we saw twice even though it was crowded, and my fave was the desert, apple cobbler, but to me it was more like an apple crisp with vanilla bean ice cream.....It was such a great meal and on the way home without any prodding or compairing, everyone in my family agreed out of all our meals it was by far the best in all aspects. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

LTT is one of our favorite places to eat. In fact, we are eating there twice for dinner during our November trip.

Great food, great characters...it's a nice family place to eat.

Can't wait to go back in November! :Pinkbounc

Have a wonderful time! :)

The above poster hit the nail on its head in her description of the character meal at LTT. I did this last November for the first time for character dinner and loved it enough to schedule the same dinner for my next trip in 3 weeks. If you've ever eaten at Garden Grill, food quality is the same, service same and character interaction same as well. I've come to learn that I like the character dinners (we're adults, no children) and after eating the fast food in the parks are completely ready for a meal with veggies, bread and salad and if the characters want to come and hug us, there more than welcome.

If you time the dinner right (which I did last year, had about an 1 15mins. before Spectromagic was to begin) you may get lucky and walk out shortly before the parade hits that area. I walked out last year, talked to a few people around me (street was already full) but I was standing on the steps of LTT and watched the entire parade (great view over everyone's heads) and photos came out wonderful.

We have a PS for Lunch at LTT. Any recommendations on foods not to miss on lunch menu? We have a birthday in our family - should I call and advise ahead of time or wait until we arrive? I think a small cake or decorations would be fun and the kids would be thrilled!!:sunny:

Lademps,

We like to have lunch at LTT during our visits. Lunch (for us) is usually our big meal of the day, and our favorite entrees here are the turkey and the pot roast. I've never had a hamburger or sandwich there, but people at nearby tables have ordered them, and they look fantastic. I also like the clam chowder soup, it is the standard New England chowder served all over Disney, but it is very tasty.

So, I guess, order whatever sounds good to you and I doubt you'll be disappointed.

we never miss liberty tree. every visit .relaxing .. great food.. charactors good.. we laway do the dinner around 430pm 5pm

Keep in mind that only dinner has the characters though.

I see that some people are planning lunch there and I wouldn't want someone to be disappointed and expecting characters.

We had dinner there before MNSSHP a couple of weeks ago. The food was great, characters great, but our server was terrible. However his poor service would not prevent me from returning. I'm going again in December.

We are long time visitors to WDW and for whatever reason, never tried this dinner until last trip. I wish we would have tried it sooner- it was so good and very filling! My DH and DD both had the turkey with all the trimmings, and gave it two thumbs up.

Although Im not a vegetarian, I didnt want turkey and chose the vegetarian option which was delicious! We are doing MVMCP after our dinner here too. I think you will really enjoy both!

I have to disagree - a little. Although we really enjoyed the character interaction (the best we had when we were there), the food left a lot to be desired. It wasn't horrible, but just not great. We are not picky, but the food seemed prepackaged and the turkey and ham were dry. We ate at quite a few wonderful places while we were there last week and this was one of our least favorite as far as the food (I wrote a review this week on this forum). It may have been the time we went (MNSSHP), although I see others went at that same time and had a different experience. I'm glad we went due to the characters, but in our opinion the food was not a draw to the restaurant. It sounds like others have had quite a different expereince - so maybe ours was just atypical :) , but we certainly aren't food snobs :p

FSUMARCHIEF- I'm glad you asked this question. DW & I are going to try this for the first time on our Feb. '05 trip. Looking forward to it.
