Liberty Tree Tavern dinner substitution?

I like your idea of stopping in earlier in the week to ask. Dinner is very good and if the rest of your party will enjoy it, I see no harm to try and make it work for your son too. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I really want to go for dinner but my 13 year old son does not eat meat. I refuse to pay $35 for him to not eat anything that is served. I know the lunch menu has fish and chips. Is there a possibility they would at least give him the fried fish? He would eat the mashed potatoes. Is there a number I could call and check before I made a reservation?

He will be able to eat the sides, like Mac and cheese, salad, and vegetables, which should be a pretty full meal. I have also read reviews that say they were offered a veggie burger at dinner. My suggestion is to post to the vegetarian dining thread, where you may get actual answers from vegetarians rather than comments and judgements from the peanut gallery. :-)

Good luck! Have a magical trip!

In fairness to "the peanut gallery", many posters will respond right after reading the first (OP) post.

OP did not ask about vegetarian meals and options at LTT for a vegetarian at dinner. There was no discussion of allergies and asking what others had been served. There was no mention of stopping by to see a manager the week before until a later post which some may have missed (I didn't see it until someone referenced it).

She asked here if she could have a completely different specific item than is on the menu of a restaurant that serves only one meal at night, with a limited set menu, of her choosing. I think many answers were honest in what their approach would be.

Yes, she can stop in the week before and ask to see a manager. I would suggest she find out what options they normally offer to non-meat eaters because honestly just because one manager may say "oh yeah we'll cook that" it doesn't mean the manager the night of their dinner will be the same and be so agreeable. In this situation you need a back up plan.

Yes, I agree. I didn't mean to start World War III. Just wondering if a restaurant will do something like this. We are on vacation and like certain things. I wasn't going to demand something different, was just going to "ask". Don't know why people get very defensive when I was just wondering if they do this sometimes and Disney would have every right to say, "no sorry we don't do this". I know people look at picky eaters as they have to just go with the flow but when I am spending so much money, I don't want someone in the family leaving hungry. We will probably do lunch, but we have a lot of good memories at dinner at LTT and even though it's pricey out of pocket, we would just like to go again. Again, was just going to ask nicely and if it was no, it was no and we would do lunch. I will let you know the outcome.

PS-Does anyone know if you get those delicious rolls and butter during lunch? If we order the turkey and pot roast that is?

On a funny note, my 13 year old is almost 6 feet tall and weighs around 170 lbs. He has not eaten beef since he was 3. Always loved animals and used to say to me when he was 4 years old, "I am not going to eat that flesh". Now he eats very little chicken (usually if it's just Chinese). He gets his protein from dairy, milk and yogurt and cheese (which he has to limit due to migraines that he has been getting). But our relatives can't believe how big he is for someone who doesn't eat meat. He was also thought to be on the autism spectrum but got loads of therapy when he was young and is in regular classes now with no aides or extra help and a lot of friends. I think he does have some food issues but we don't pressure him to eat things he doesn't like. We accept him and his likes/dislikes :thumbsup2

They won't bring them automatically. You have to request them at lunch.

I also read some post from 2013 and said a veggie burger was as given as an alternative, but that person was charged $2 more for their meal than anyone else. I wouldn't get my hopes up too high.

The reason the post got the response it did was not because we were attacking you, although it might have seemed that way. Lately there have been a multitude of posters who want to dine at specific restaurants but who do not like the menu. WHo books Cape May and then asks for a cooked to order meal because they do nto eat seafood and hate buffet??? Who tells a chef that there is a gluten allergy because DD wants to try the millet bread, but then is upset because DD is not served the pastry platter? I could go on and on, but you see why at first it looked like your son simply did not like the menu, and you wanted a different meal made to order for him.

DIsney is an awesome place to vacation when you Need to consider allergies or vegetarians or vegans, and I am sorry I jumped the gun here. SOmetimes it is hard to tell why people are asking for a different meal.

No worries, I understand.

That was probably me. (Or if not, I had the same experience.) We ate LTT dinner again last year and the accommodation was different - they no longer serve the veggie burger as it is no longer on the lunch menu (or it wasn't as of the first of the year, I haven't looked lately.) I am almost thinking I opted just to eat the sides that were "safe" and they didn't supplement at all. It was still PLENTY of food. (And FYI the stuffing is not vegetarian... or it wasn't as of the first of the year.)

BTW we do eat at lots of restaurants where I can't eat off the menu (vegetarian with mushroom allergy... so even the veg option doesn't always work.) I can't see any reason to limit my travel party to the small handful of restaurants I can eat at without modifications - we're seeing a chef anyways due to other allergies in the party so that may affect my thought process. The modifications are usually easy (fried green tomato sandwich no bacon) and it's no different than eating out at home, where I often have to do the same thing.
