We are surprising out 16 year old daughter with a trip to Disney for her 17th birthday. She loves mashed potatoes, mac and cheese and comfort foods like that.
Is LTT a good place to dine on her Birthday dinner at her age? What will they do or does anyone have Birthday stories here?
Has anyone celebrated their teen dinner somewhere and have a story?

We were there for my son's 8th birthday and a big group of waiters and waitresses came out and sang Happy Birthday to him and gave him a big cupcake. He loved it!

We love LTT, however not sure if it suits a 17yr old girl. Depends on the girl. I have eaten at many of WDW restaurants and the "vibe" of the place really counts.
Again we love the food, but the atmosphere is a little "old world" style. You feel as though you are eating in a historic place. So to me it was a bit, sit up straight, talk softly, eat everything on your plate...a bit conservative like.
Not like places like Crystal Palace or Chef Mickey's, which both have excellent mashed potatoes (CM's are a bit better though). Of course these are character buffets so it is loud and fun.

You know your girl best, does she like it more quiet or does she like fun, exciting atmosphere. Then just make sure you put on the ressie a birthday, remind them when you check in that you are celebrating a birthday and for who. Because it is really up to the server you get whether or not they are into it or not. All restaurants don't "have" to do anything, so if you are really wanting something special like a cake or something, you will need to plan that ahead of time. (see the cake thread for more info on that).

Have a great time. :)

Many years ago, we were there for our son's birthday. They decorated the table and we asked for a small cake. They brought the cake to our table after we had completed our dinner. The cake was about $15 extra. We brought the rest of the cake back to our hotel.

We celebrated my mom's 75th birthday one year at WDW. We had it noted on all of our ADRs and she wore her birthday button all week. Some restaurants brought her out a dessert and/or sang happy birthday to her, others didn't. LTT is one that didn't acknowledge it in anyway, even though she had her button on. It could have just been our waiter or maybe it was because she was an adult.

A few years ago I dined solo on my 45th birthday. The table was decorated with Mickey confetti. At the end of the meal, a group of servers came up behind me ringing a very loud bell and sang HB to me. They also brought a cupcake with a candle. This was at lunch.

So they definitely sing to adults. Maybe it's just a matter of how busy they are at the time?

We had dinner & lunch at LLT this past Oct. for my DH's 50th birthday. Both times the table had streamers on it and he was sung happy birthday by a group of servers and given birthday cupcakes w/a candle.

My DH was touched by the effort and I ate the cupcakes! (he's not a big sweet eater)

I had a team of servers sing HB to me this year when they brought my dessert. I was wearing a bday badge as well. Almost all of the restaurants we ate at did something for my bday.

For my 16 yr old DD - she wants to go to 50's PT for her bday since that was the most fun that we had with CM interaction for a bday. Since it really depends on the server, I hope she won't be disappointed if we get someone less animated and funny as our last guy!
