Hi, we are visiting the world for our first ever trip to the States over Christmas, and will be doing all things 'Christmassy!':santa:

We are from the UK, and wanted to have a Christmas dinner 'American style'

As I don't really know what that is;), I was wondering whether the Liberty Tree Tavern was the type of fare you would eat at Christmas as well as Thanksgiving? If so, i was thinking of adding an early dinner to our MVMCP night, to make it extra 'Christmassy US style'!!

Many thanks for any info:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

It has all the foods that my family serves for Christmas dinner with the exception of cabbage salad-similar to cole slaw. Although in my family we only serve turkey. Many other families serve both turkey and ham or just ham with the trimmings. While others serve roast beef or other more expensive cuts of meat. Modern tradition Christmas dinner is very similar to Thanksgiving for many families I think.

I think overall you will be pleased with your choice.

Here is a website that talks about Christmas meals of the past in America: http://www.foodtimeline.org/christmasmenu.html

Another interesting site: http://www.californiamall.com/holidaytraditions/traditions-america.htm

thank you both for posting:thumbsup2 It was really thoughtful of you both, posting such terrific links - I am definitely going to see if I can get a 5pm adr on MVMCP night now - so thank you:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Glad we could help. Enjoy your holiday at Disney World. We love Disney at Christmas time. The parks feel even more magical than ever before. Be prepared for crowds from Christmas week on. Have a plan and you will be fine.

If you did not know the Christmas stuff that is shown during the party is also shown with reg. park admission every Sat. leading up to Christmas as well as everyday starting the Sat. leading into Christmas week. Just in case you wanted to save some money.

thank you:lovestruc I was thinking of trying to catch some of the christmas week stuff before we leave for our cruise - although I will be mindful of the crowds - we (DH & I) don't mind so much, but our youngest will still only be small and I am unsure how he will cope on the really busy days, so we thought we might try and do AK and Celebration on the last couple of days before we join the cruise on 23rd - as I hope these won't be quite so busy!!:thumbsup2

We've been planning for so long (over 2 years now;)) that finally to be able to book adrs has made it really real and very exciting:santa:

Wow thats a long time to have to wait. But I am sure it takes you awhile to save up being as you are coming from so far away. At least you had a lot of time to plan it out so as not to miss anything important that you want to see. Being as you are leaving for your cruise on the 23rd the crowds will not be all that bad before hand. MK is the worst esp. on weekends and Mondays. Otherwise until about the 20th all the other parks have pretty managable crowd levels. It sounds like you have a good plan.
