LGMH removal stratagies?

What I would like from those who have already been playing with their LGMH is how you get them off of the rectangle backing. I've not gotten the microwave to work yet. I don't want to bend them trying to peel them off. Any help would be appreciated, I want to attack them on my day off tomorrow!!! :wizard:

Don't, I repeat... DON'T try the microwave method! I inadvertantly set my LGMHPC on fire earlier this week (and boy did it stink!)

I have not tried the soaking method...
had some luck just gently peeling...will try gluing the two I peeled back to back and then laminate them. We'll see.

If that doesn't work, the next pair will be laminated ON their cards!!!

Soaking works, but some wrinkles form unless you are very careful. Also, there is a curling issue as they dry. Place them under a book, back to back to dry. The results were passable, but not stellar. The best luck DW has had, besides the special Halloween Mickey Heads I cheated on by making them with Photoshop, have been carefully cut out with scissors. Then stuck back to back with a glue-stick, before laminating.

P.S. I would think that the wanton sacrificial burning of the sacred LGMHPC would at least warrent a visit from the Tag Fairy, wouldn't it? :teeth:

pbnjrockette, I did catch your sacrifice to the DISboard gods post with the burning of a LGMH! That's why when I tried it I stared it down the whole time. How embarrassed would I be after having burned down the house for my DH to find out it was a LGMH fault!

Jackmonkey, if I try to soak them how will they dry between books? Do you put a towel down too? Or will they stay curled if I do that?

Thanks to you both for your imput! :)

I think I'm going to try cutting them first, but the first time I cut Mickey's ear off I'm going to try soaking them. I haven't been able to just peel them off. Maybe mine have super glue on them or I just lack the patience. I end up bending the ears. :artist:

Guess I haven't been around long enough but I don't know what a visit from the Tag fairy means...

The Tag Fairy is assumed to be an admin who will change the tag under your user names. Usually, it seems, the tag fairy will choose something funny you have said. No one ever knows when the Tag Fairy will strike next.

This is what I did. Works great.

I also just cut out and glue, then laminate. We are set to go!

I saw "Un-Do" recommended in another thread this morning. I found it in the craft section of my local Walmart today and tried it out. It made removing the mickey heads very easy.

Ah! Un-Do sounds good! I have been doing pretty well with the scissors though. What to do? Thank you for the info! :teeth:

I am going to try cutting them out and gluing them back to back and then laminating mine.. I hope that works

the company that sells scrapbooking supplies makes this handy dandy tool called a Multi Purpose Tool. It's like a flat plastic blade on one end, pointed on the other end. It's 6.00. The flat end like a blade just slid ritght under the Mickey Head and I just kept moving it around. Head came off no problem! I think a disposable plastic cutlery knife would work the same way..if blade is not serrated. Hope this helps! :)

This is kind of what I've been doing with plain scissors. Probably not as pretty though. Thank you for the idea! I'd never heard of such a thing before.
