LGB to Disneyland --> street or freeway?

Greetings Disney lovers!

I will be arriving in Long Beach next Saturday night around 9pm and I am wondering if the locals could tell me if the freeway or street version would be faster. I know it's a straight shot to Disneyland from LGB but there are a ton of lights. There shouldn't be much traffic on the freeways Saturday night but you never know... just looking for advice.

What is faster this time and day?

I am a California native but haven't been in the socal rat race for about 8 years.

Maybe Mary Jo or some local can help you. Unfortunately I didn't see any driving directions in the stickies section -- too bad, because the LAX to DL directions are right on.

I would pick the freeway route because of the lights. Plus you don't want to be stuck at a light in a bad part of town.

Not local, but have traveled from LGB to DLR before. On a Saturday night, I'd pick freeway over surface streets.

Funny you should ask, I just got back last night. LBG to DL we took the streets and it took about 30 minutes. Our car had a GPS and we thought it would be an adventure to follow the directions the lady on the GPS was telling us to go.

One morning I had to pick up my sister from LBG at 8am. If you take the freeway, 5 south - 405, and if you can carpool it takes about 20-25 minutes. If not, you are stuck in traffic for at least an hour. Another less traveled freeway is the 91 (this is the one I usually take), same amount of time, but if the 405 is backed up the 91 is faster.

We took the freeway at 9ish on a Thursday and it was fine and clear. We also took it at 3 on a tuesday back to lgb and there was very little traffic.

Since you'll be driving on Saturday you won't have to worry about traffic on the freeways so definitely take the freeways. Hands down.

Take either the 405 south to the 22 east, exit on Harbor, go North. If that looks bad (accident, etc.) you can take the 405 south to the 605 north to the 91 east to the 5 south and exit at Harbor and you're right there. Actually, I would probably take the 405/605/91/5 if it was me. I try to dtay on the freeways as much as possible during light times.
