Levi's Tag Urban Legend

Does anyone remember, back when Levi's jeans were the ONLY jean to wear, the old story that if you sent back like, 100 Levi's tags to the company, they would send you a pair of free jeans?

And there was always some joker taking a comb to your Levi's tag to try to rip it off?

I always loved the Urban Legend about the girl who died wearing the "shrink to fit" jeans...something about her falling into a pool or a tub of water and the jeans shrank so much that they killed her. Hahahahaha

I can't believe nobody remembers having their Levi's tags ripped off their back pockets! This must have been a regional thing then. But it went on for years in the 70's. You would literally have to walk covering your butt so some idiot wouldn't stick the tooth of a comb through the tag and yank it off.
