Letting Our Sorcerer Passes Expire

We let ours expire last month. We purposely went into "borrow" mode with points to make the most of our AP. We are taking a break from WDW for at least a year. I'm actually looking forward to returning late in 2026 and hoping some of the new attractions will be built by then. In the meantime, we are excited to travel to other places.

That’s basically what we ended up doing, just not intentionally from the start. Probably should’ve borrowed more and planned it out better. We managed to get three trips out of our current APs, with the last one just a couple weeks ago, and they actually expire today 😭. We’re thinking about going in May 2026, so we’ll take a look at the offers then.

We are not letting ours expire. We always go for 14+ days so the pass does pay in one trip. Given we do a couple of trips a year, it really is a great savings. This year we have points that will be expiring, so I plan to use them to buy the pass. I know the spreadsheet crowd will point out this is a bad idea, but works for us, at least this time.

Long trips are the best!

We spent the month of December at OKW in the early 2000s. It was great! Except Christmas Day at Magic Kingdom was not very Magical 😭. Now that we are retired, we could stay for a month or more, but boarding our fur babies is hard on them and expensive. We live in PNW so taking them with us is not an option.
Long trips just gives you lots of flexibility and no pressure to do anything. The Sorcerers pass is just a great value. I wish DLR would have something similar. There is just no way to justify a DLR pass at the moment.

We’re about to let our (4) Sorcerer Passes expire since we likely won’t be back to WDW for about a year. When the Sorcerer Pass first became available, we jumped at the chance to buy, especially since we had two trips planned that year.

Now, with all the discounts WDW has been rolling out lately (and wanting to visit Epic), I’m wondering if we might see better ticket deals or even a lower-tier DVC pass option in the future.

I’m not too concerned about saving a few dollars by renewing now versus buying later. I'll just pray they don’t pause sales right before I need to purchase. I've been tempted to maybe pay for just 1 pass.

Curious what others are thinking, anyone else considering letting theirs expire?
The pause trauma is real!!!! I am also afraid to make my decision based on financials and real life plans vs. the trauma of the "Pause".

Pausing sales seems very (very) unlikely.

I think it also has to do with the leadership. Chapek seemed not not care much for passholders. A large portion are local, stay offsite, and probably don't spend much on dining, merchandise, Genie+, and ILLs. If I was a shareholder, I'm not sure Iger is doing a better job (stock is flat since he took over again in Nov 2022), but at least that attitude of making passholders feel like 2nd class guests is not as evident. Annual pass sales resumed 5 months after Iger returned and seems like they are here to stay, at least as long as he's running things.

We always let ours expire. We basically do one trip a year in June. We buy the passes and go late June this year then early June next year to get two 8 day trips out of the pass.
