Before the New Year is upon us, is there any special way you let go of the hurts and disappointments of the past year? Drinking is not an option!

Cleaning....clean our drawers, closets, throw away clutter and stuff and start anew!!!

Getting rid of "stuff" that is dragging you down helps!!!!

I have already been tossing....pantry, refridge, we redid younger dd's closet (painted and organized!).....
Now to move onto more!!!

Right now I am going thru Christmas stuff and packing and tossing.:thumbsup2

I agree with the above, cleaning and throwing out the clutter/junk.

Also you could start a j ournal...I'm great at starting them! Keeping up is harder.

 For me, I had a person that I had to forgive but it was quite hard. It finally took me realizing that I was letting go for my sake and my benefit... not for the other person. That took a huge weight off my shoulders and I'm much happier for it.

ITA with this statement! And also like Dr. Phil always says, you can be right or you can be happy. It's not always worth it (for YOURSELF) to be right.

I need to let go of my on again/off again guy. I need for things to remain off again for good.

Well not specifically at the end of the year, but a good cry in the shower or bath can do wonders for me.

I was very hurt and dissapointed in people I considered friends this past year:guilty: Shame on me for being so trusting...however, I will not allow bad experiences to damper who I am:) I have let go of all negative feelings I had habored months ago and I am looking forward to a great new year... When one door closes, another opens:)

Accept the fact that you can't "rewrite history".. Don't bog yourself down with "what if's"..

Convince yourself that this is a bright new beginning - and then GO FOR IT!!:cheer2:

Sounds like very good advice. Thanks!

I agree with journaling. Write it all down. Then also write down all you consider your blessings. My best is that you will find you have more to be thankful for than you thought. Plus getting it all down on paper lets you purge it out of your system. I try and journal all year long but it is a great end of year exercise as well. Don't forget to put down your goals for 2007 which will give you a great start to the new year!

~Whomever/whatever angers you, also controls you; just let it go.~

When I've caught myself fretting over something I couldn't change, I've visualized throwing my troubles away. (Kind of like those old commercials for Peppermint Pattys LOL.)

I know a couple, very spiritual, who take two candles right around 11:45 PM or so and light them together, each holding one. He talks about something from the year that he wants to forgive or let go of - and then he blows his out, and immediately relights it with hers. Then she does the same, blows hers out, and relights with his. When they're done, they kiss and blow them both out together. It's supposed to symbolize the strength of marriage, inner strength, one soul feeding the other ...
I think it might be Maori or another South Pacific tradition (they're from NZ)
...
I always liked it, I always remembered it. I only saw them do it once. Beautiful.
