Letting Go - AKA Man Christmas

Things are getting the better of me this year. I only finished work yesterday (earlier than a lot of people, but the main reason I chose to work part time at a school was to have time for family things.)

I've also lost Christmas preparation time for enjoyable things DDs birthday, a work collegue's wedding and a Christmas concert. All great fun - but all things I forgot to allow for.

So DH has taken initiative and has helped me with Christmas - he ordered a lot of stuff on-line earlier this month, he's put up and decorated the tree and he's wrapped the pressies.

So what if I've no idea what our teenaged kids have for Christmas, so what if he avoided my favourite Disney decorations and so what if he couldn't find the gift tags and has written on the wrappings in black marker pen instead?

He is so lovely.

Oh, and DD decided to decorate the Christmas cake too.

So, I'm now very, very nearly ready for Christmas.

Aww sounds as though your hubby has been a great help and your daughter too. Enjoy the help, relax and have a lovely family Christmas

I used to try and take on the whole Christmas thing all on my own thinking only I can do it right and ended up getting so stressed and missed out on so much things. Now we all muck in and maybe things aren't perfect but so what we all have fun. I still have sleepless nights though wondering each year how long to cook turkey for but never poisioned anyone yet so must be doing something right.

Talking of fab hubby's, after spending ages removing the snow and de-icing my car this morning, my hubby could see me looking a bit anxious about driving to Asda, so he offered to take me (I was so relieved). He doesn't come food shopping with me often, and one things for sure, with the amount of booze he bought this morning we're in for a very 'merry' Christmas

Its always nice when other help. My dad until recently has always done the Christmas shopping, although he still does a fair bit as I always want something that has to be ordered online & my mother wouldn't even know how to switch a computer on

My dad usually does the decorations & shopping and for the past 2 years I have cooked the christmas dinner to let her have a relaxing christmas. This year though she is doing the dinner as i'm working.

My dad has always done his fair share of the work around the house which is more then what can be said for my BIL who is just like his father & does pretty much nothing & only on the odd occasion does he help out around the house!
