Letter to school for Hawaii Vacation?

Cool Beans- this was me after reading your post:rotfl2: That was Too Funny!

MonsterKitty-Wow, that was a great letter thanks.

Grlpwrd- First off, 5 hours? But you know how I am on the road trips, I guess my last one really swayed me against it:rotfl: Hope you are having a good time though. I think I will add about M. having a different school schedule than us and for what I do for a living I can't get off during summer.

Seaspray- have a great time at WDW next year. The Wildlife Discovery excursion sounds great.

Clh2- have a great trip to Berlin.

Kath2003- I will be taking my camcorder, I like your idea of having DD get some footage, maybe not show the footage of us climbing Diamond Head with me yelling, OMG it is so high up, like I did at WDW on the Dumbo ride, DD liked to play with controls, but it made for a funny dvd.

Corgimonster-like the lesson in tolerance. I want DD to have a open mind and experience different cultures, etc.

DawnCt1-I like the webcam idea, thanks.

Wow that was a good sample letter, now can you please type one up for me?? We'll be taking DSs back to WDW next May, and DS-then-17-high-school-junior will be missing 5 days of school! Although, we WILL be staying on the "King Kamehameha Club Level" at the Polynesian, so maybe that can be considered educational?? :confused3 :lmao:

But seriously... We haven't taken DSs out of school since 2001 when they were in 4th and 7th grades, and the school said it wasn't a problem at all. Now older DS will have just finished his finals at college so he won't be missing any school, but younger DS will still be in school, although nothing major will be going on during the week we're gone. Our trip is the 3rd week in May, and he has no major tests, finals are not until a month later, and even his spring band concert is in early May! He's an honors student with excellent attendance, so we truly feel that this family vacation which really CAN be educational, will not be a hardship to DS, and will not cause problems for him. He'll be able to make up the work fairly easily when he returns.

We will be doing the Segway Tour at Epcot (there's a physics lesson right there!), and we'll be doing the Wildlife Discovery Excursion (this is a private tour conducted by a wildlife expert!), as well as the Keys to the Kingdom tour (we'll learn about the architecture of how WDW was built, as well as other educational topics! lol).

Would anyone care to give it a shot and write up a letter for me?

P.S. Don't forget to add in how over the past 11 years of DSs' school career, we've ALWAYS encouraged him to do his best, never miss school, and to make his school work a priority! :thumbsup2

P.P.S. Not to mention all of the countries in Epcot we'll be visiting and dining at, including the CMs at each country who are actually FROM each of those countries and who are more than willing to share their love and knowledge of their homelands, including giving DS the chance to pratice his Spanish, while in his 3rd year of taking High School Honors Spanish.

Dear Principal,

This letter is to inform you that our family will be attending a family reunion in Florida this May. if your older son will be home from college at that time, it will be a reunion so that is not a lie. :lmao: As a result, my son will be missing a week of school.

While in Florida, we will be visiting WDW. WDW is full of educational experiences from zoology and wildlife conservation, to physics, architectural design, to the many cultures found in the World Showcase at Epcot. My son is especially excited to use his Spanish in the Mexico pavillion, as he interacts with Cast Members from Mexico.

As an honors student, my son is very aware of how important his education is. While he is not absent often, when he is absent from school, he makes a pointed effort to complete his makeup work in a timely fashion.

I completely understand, and even sympathize with, the pressures schools are under regarding student achievment and attendance. While our trip date is not flexible due because it is a family reunion, we do expect our son to use this experience to further his education as well as explore his future career in zoology (insert any career choice here that your son is interested in that relates to WDW. Schools, especially when a child is a junior in hs, really want its students to explore careers.)

Thank you for your time and your consideration when you excuse my son for this family reunion.

Sincerely,

SeaSpray.

PS
If you do not excuse this absence, Monsterkitty from the DIS will be contacting you. That will not be pretty. ;)
