letter form Fl to NYC...how long?

My son lives in an apt in NYC and I have had such a problem sending him presents, they won't even attempt a package and he winds up having to travel to pick them up, and he is relying on public transportation so it is just not worth sending him anything for all the inconvenience it cost him. Anyway this year I contacted one of his favorite places around the corner from his house and asked for a gift certificate. The plan was I send a money order and they would hold it for him there and I would send him a birthday card with details about picking up his present. The guy I was dealing with has been very nice and told me he'd let me know when he got the money order. Well today has been a week since I mailed it out and I haven't heard anything Is it unusual for mail to take so long from Florida to NY...my son's bday is in 4 days and I'm concerned. Thanks!

If you have the stub for the money order you can check to see if it was cashed yet or not

BUT...

A month or two ago, our renters mailed our rent check. Usually they are about 5 days earlier and let us cash it when received. The first came, then the 2nd...no rent check. The 3rd I got concerned, so by the 4th, (maybe 5th?) I had my husband call them.

My renters are FABULOUS btw!

Due to some disorganization at home, I was not certain that I hadn't received the mail. They said they had mailed it and offered to send a new check. Since I wasn't sure if it was my fault, we offered to pay the stop payment fees.

Well, later that day, we finally get the check. Mailed when they said. It took about 7-9 days (I don't remember exactly).

We normally get mail to and from Florida within 2-3 days.

Not sure what was up with the system that day. But that was one occurrence out of 6. Very odd. Hasn't happened again, knock on wood.

I would certainly check to see if the MO was cashed. But it could be just that it got on the slowest snail in snail mail.

I just went on western union and maybe I did it wrong but it looks like to track it you actually have to be asking for a refund?
