Lets talk- What would make you plan a trip to WDW next year?

Just wondering, if you have been thinking about visiting Disney next year what would have to happen? Is it discounts, new attractions, etc?

Great idea for a thread, safetymom! :)

A month ago I would've replied that there was no way we'd be going to WDW next year. However, just this morning I booked a trip for next May, for our entire family! :grouphug:

This next trip came about from a very unexpected string of events...LOL

First of all, in early June my DH gave me a trip to WDW for an anniversary present. That trip took place just last week. We went for 4 days and we bought 2-day base MYW park tickets. In the weeks before the trip we considered the price difference between them, and upgrading to Annual Passes. We decided it wasn't worth the cost because we had absolutely NO plans to go back to WDW within the next year. Then about a week after that (about 2 weeks before this past trip) we took DH's aunt out to dinner. She always asks us about our various trips, cruises, etc, so we were telling her about our upcoming trip to WDW and our favorite resort (Polynesian). She said "I'd LOVE to go with you on your next Disney trip. When do you think you might go next??" We told her that our favorite time of year is the spring... so after that DH and I started talking about upgrading our 2-day park tickets to Annual Passes afterall, if there was a chance we'd be going back next spring. One thing led to another and before we knew it, we had decided to definitely upgrade to APs (which we did, just last weekend) AND to tell Aunt Esther that we'd be going back to WDW, AND we decided to bring DSs this time and make it a big family trip. (We'd left DSs home on some of our recent WDW trips, at their request. lol)

So this past Friday night she came over for dinner and to see our pictures from last weekend and she and we decided to definitely book the Polynesian for next May. I booked our rooms this morning!

So that's how I went from "there's NO WAY we're going back to WDW within the next 2 years" to booking a trip for next May!

October will be my 4th trip this year and today I was planning our next summer trip. Started looking at the different prices for weekends, ticket hike etc. Decided to do 4 days Universal and 4 days at the beach somewhere.

It would take a really good deal for me to book WDW next year. They have enough of my money, it's time to spread it around to other places.

With the new rates coming out for 2008 I've looked into booking for next summer, but realistically without a good room discount I won't be able to afford it. I could afford a value, but I'd rather not stay there (as I travel with a party of 3 adults and the rooms at the value are small so I'd need a good discount to convince myself to stay there). I'd stay at a moderate or a delux easily, but even still without a discount they are on the costly side for when I would be able to travel (summer).

So a good package or room only deal is what draws me back to disney, if I had an unlimited amount of money though I'd be at Disney all the time without needing anything to draw me in! Also if disney would ever extend a nice offer to military families, I'd go in a heartbeat (so SOG is a draw for us to go to Disney on a budget).

The answers you are all giving is very interesting. It is funny how suggestable we all can be when it comes to WDW.

Keep the answers coming. I was always very good at justifying why we needed to go to WDW again.

It takes absolutely nothing for us to plan a trip every year. We're going in October, and already talking about when we'll go next year. Probably in May and October. In our house, we're either getting ready to leave for WDW, at WDW, or planning a trip to WDW.:goodvibes

Why do we go back to DW every year? For the magic! To see the stars in our granddaughter's eyes when she sees a princess, especially Cinderella. To enjoy the great food in Epcot - especially Le Cellar and Rose and Crown. To hear the Voices of Liberty again and again. To watch the American Dream and be thankful I am an American.

I'm already thinking of Oct. '08 :) I have a lot of "non-Disneyfied "friends who hear my trip descriptions and tell me they want to go with me on my next trip. Now that our kids are getting older and moving out of the house I can do these kind of trips:cool1: I already had a friend ask me to plan our trip for Columbus day weekend '08, and some neighbors have asked if they could go with me and DH for Columbus Day weekend '09 or '10 !

New attractions are always a reason to go. Vacation package deals do nothing for me. I'm the type that likes to do all the planning myself. I also don't want the restrictions of some of the packages.

There might be a special event happening that would prompt us to book a trip. DD is a seasonal CM, so we like to go when she is there. I suppose if she stopped working there we might actually wait a year. I like the idea that we are never TOO far away from the next trip.:earsboy:

I love the specials that open are to the general public.

Seven days for the price of 4.
Seven days for the of 5.
Free dining.

Those are all specials we have taken advantage of.

We like to go during September or early October since the parks are not as busy that time of the year.

I already had my ressies in fall of 2005 when Disney offered the free dining plan the first time.

I think it is a great special and we taking advantage of it for the 3rd year.:woohoo:

BTW

We would go without the specials but I do love a good bargin. :)

Totally hypothetical, because I can't afford to go again next year, but Space Mountain re-opening in time for either free dining or the Epcot Food & Wine Fest. I've always wanted to go to that and never been. :wizard:

well, since the new rates came out today, I've been planning an imaginary trip :rolleyes1 in my head, seeing what it would cost, etc....

BUT, we can't go til 2009 unless we win the lottery!

I would want a good discount, The year doesn't seem complete without a trip to WDW. I always seem to see a good airfare and then next thing you know I'm trying to work the discount/code thing. I was lucky enough to squeeze in 2 trips this year and last, next year I would like to try AKL again.

What would have to happen? Hmmm...if I ever find myself on the DisBoards sipping a glass of wine while wearing pink Crocs. But, hey, what are the chances? Ohh, ohhh....wait a minute.....Pink Crocs! Wine! Looks like I'm goin' to Disney folks! :rotfl:

It will take all my powers of persuasion just to talk my DGF into it! We've already been twice this year, and we're going back again in Oct, so I may meet some resistance. She's been campaigning - horror of all horrors - to go somewhere else on vacation for a while now. :scared1:

We do have those APs that I'd like to use again before they expire in May, so a Spring Break trip is not out of the question, but I also really want to go on a Disney cruise, so that's a strong possibility as well. We shall see....

Anything will make me go to WDW :cool1: I'll go to WDW in honor of the giant map-chain link we have in our house.

I love Disney and would go every year but I have to convince my ds and dh. As a Disney Visa card holder they sent me the advance info in April about free dining in September. My ds and dh voted instead to go to South Padre for a beach vacation in May. When we returned from the beach I kept working on them and they finally agreed... to celebrate my ds's birthday and as a 17th anniversary gift to me.... Maybe next year I can convince my dh to finally give me my honeymoon.....
What works for him is free dining or a postcard code that is too hard to resist.......although he spends more money on drinks and souvenirs than our hotel. Go figure..... I just hope it turns out to be a more positive experience than our last trip when we cut our vacation short because we couldn't handle the crowds and could not get into most table service restaurants. However we did get to light the Epcot tree.
I just hope our upcoming trip blows some Pixie dust on my ds and dh so they become Disneyfied.

Just wondering, if you have been thinking about visiting Disney next year what would have to happen? Is it discounts, new attractions, etc?

I have one trip booked (May) and plan to take another one in September (or possibly early December, but I don't want to risk a cold snap--I do NOT do cold). I just go when I decide I want to. I'm retired and single, so I do pretty much what I want, when I want--finances allowing :woohoo: A room discount for September would be nice :goodvibes

Why go? Because, like a lot of you, I have to have a trip in the works! As someone else said, the year isn't complete unless there's a Disney trip in it...

Previously (March this year) I lived in San Diego, so we only planned on WDW every other year. But, now I live in Illinois, so it is alot more manageable to get there, and we don't have DL in our backyard.

So, we are going in October for 8 days. I got myself an AP, still hoping for room rates for october. And I am planning on going next year (without DH) once if not twice for 4 or 5 day trips!

I love it!! Happy planning!!
