Looking for thoughts on what will happen in the days upcoming to the opening of the new Soarin' movie. Soaring' is our family favorite ride, as I'm sure is the case with many other families.

We are planning an impromptu trip for June 9-14. The opening of the new Soarin' is currently scheduled for June 18. Obviously we will miss the new ride, which is totally fine, we'll have plenty of time to see it. But, I'm wondering what your thoughts are on what will go on in the days leading up to the opening. Will they show the original ride? Or will it be completely closed altogether?

Obviously, just conjecture at this point, but not being able to ride at all will be kind of a bummer! I don't see any upcoming, or current closures listed on any of the sites I know to check, so I'm just not sure what to expect. We do have the option of going the last week of July, and while it's tempting to consider missing Grad Nites, and seeing the new Soarin', the hotel is about $200 more expensive, and the heat, and crowds will no doubt intensify. Any thoughts?

There is a small Club 33 event that is offering the "last flight" after the park closes on June 15th...and the new Sorain officially opens on June 17th...so my spidey senses would tell me based on that intel that Soarin over CA will be playing through June 15th, closed on the 16th, then Soarin over the World will be premiering June 17th.

...however I would be willing to bet there will be a few unannounced soft opening rides as they have done with other attractions on the 16th if I was a bettin man.

When we were at DL the last weekend of April, none of the scents were in the Soarin' ride. Wondering if this has been going on for some time or not. Looking forward to the new version! I know it isn't supposed to premier until after the opening in Shanghai.

They didn't have the scents in March either.

I checked with a CM last week regarding the scents. She told me that they had taken them already out in preperation for the new film.

Oh man! Soaring' with the scents? Is that really Soarin' at all?! It's still better than not seeing it at all, but man!

My understanding from talking to CMs is that when Soarin' was down for refurb earlier this year, they did everything needed for the new ride (including taking out all the old scents), so no work is needed for the new film.

Supposedly they can't soft-open it because of the Shanghai premiere agreement, but they really don't need to - the ride itself isn't changing so there's nothing to "test" except a movie, and you don't need an audience for that.

It's not. I missed the oranges. The oranges reminded me of visiting my uncle when I was a kid and seeing Disneyland while drinking fresh squeezed orange juice. My uncle owned part of the property DL is on today.

It's going to be interesting; I didn't plan this at all, but my first day in the parks for my upcoming trip is going to be the 18th

Now, I'm probably not even going to attempt it at first because the lines are probably going to be insane, but I'll be there long enough to where I'm sure I'll be able to squeeze at least one ride in on it; either way, I'm excited; I love Soarin'; who doesn't?

Are you staying on property or off? And will you be there on Sunday, June 19? Sunday is an early morning and the ride is usually open for it. So less line possibly that day. And you could get a fastpass at park open either day. Just set yourself to be on the right side of rope at rope drop. The fast passes will probably go like when RSR first opened and have a line before rope drop.

Hopefully there will be a soft opening you could attend, I love the current Soarin and was happy to see from the videos from Shanghai that the score is essentially the same, very excited to see the new one in person. We have to wait until September trip, but it'll be worth it!

Off, and I'm a pass holder, but I'll keep all of this in mind, thank you!

That day I could just as easily go single rider at Radiator Springs and do up the fastpass there...

I agree with Skygirl, no soft-open because Shanghai was promised so many original rides on opening day. So the Soarin' Over the World has to be Shanghai only on the day Shanghai opens.
