Haven't been since 1992. The only wet ride I remember then wasw the earthquake ride. Just a spritz. ;) Now there are TONS of water rides! What shoes do you wear in the parks? We wore crocs to WDW last year and the kids all got blisters. :sad1: (DH and I wore crocs too but we always wore socks. The kids snuck out w/o socks a few times.) What do you do about the wet feet issue? Obviously sneakers won't work. 2 of my kids have REALLY hard to fit feet, so I'm a little worried about the shoe issue. :scared:

Any thoughts?

I love my tennis shoes, but DW and kids love there crocs. What they do is get a locker to stow cells-socks etc till there done getting wet!!

I wear a good pair of walking sandals or tennis shoes. The kids always wear Hollister flip flops which they have to sit on for the rides. You can't pinch them together and slip through the buckle on the rides anymore. You have to hold them or sit on them.

So, IMHO, wear something that is comfy and stays put on your feet.

I wear flip flops if I'm feeling foolish, otherwise I wear my crocs. I've never had blister issues w/them and I have never worn socks with them.

My boy wears sneakers. If they get wet he deals with it until we get back to the hotel for our "break."

the "real" best kept secret is

to avoid blisters, always wear your

Crocs with Socs

LOL! Yeah, we found that out the hard way. (or at least the kids did. :sad2: ) But there is still the question of what you do with the SOCKS on the wet ride. I suppose I could *bag* them in a ziplock. (Did this with the camera on Kali. :thumbsup2 )

Running to the locker before and after every ride just seems....well....annoying! :confused3

My son and I wear Keens, my daughter wears Lands End water mesh shoes, and husband wears Merrill watershoes. My nephews all had keen-like sandals that they purchased from "Bob's Stores". None of us got blisters, but we always used "Body Glide" on our feet. On days when we knew we weren't going to get wet, we switched over to sneakers but we never used cotton socks (talk about potential for blisters!)

I have a remarkable capacity to wear flip-flops comfortably for long periods of time. But sometimes that tires my feet out, so on those days I wear tennies (tennis shoe days are usually Halloween Horror Nights because we walk more than usual and people tend to trample you in the houses). When there is a threat of rain, it's ALWAYS flip-flops. I love the kind with the soft cloth bands that you can get at Target or Joe Boxer flip-flops (also fabric band) from K-Mart.

that's what i do, set out everyday w/pocketful of baggies & manage to use them all for something or another;)

Easy. Put some cheap $1.99 Old Navy flipflops and a handtowel in your backpack along with a big plastic ziploc bag, and a large plastic shopping bag. Before you get on the water rides, take your tennis shoes off, put the flip flops on, and either stow the bag in a locker or put it inside the big plastic shopping bag to protect it from getting wet on the ride.

When you get off, towel off your feet, slip the tennis shoes back on, and put the wet towel, flip flops, and big plastic bag inside the ziplock.

It seems like a lot of hassle, but it saves you from soggy socks and really only takes a couple of minutes. DH balked at doing this this last year, and he ended up with a blister after Kali River at AK, while my tootsies got a refreshing cool-down and then right back into my comfortable New Balance.

This is a great strategy for those "will it or won't it rain" days too. I did it several times at HHN because my feet just can't take the flip-flops on those long, walk-intense nights. We always have a pack that's big enough to carry the tennies in if absolutely needed during a rainstorm.

I wear sneakers... There rly is only 2 water rides that will soak your feet iirc. I also dont ride them every trip cuz I hate getting soaked.

At Disney last year the kids and I wore Crocs, DH wore Tennis shoes. We will probably do the same thing again this year at USO/IOA.

Crocs for all of us (without socks). Last year DD got a blister from hers, so we may try some of that blister stuff this year - or put her in tennis shoes.

Yep...I always have the big backpack with flip-flops with me. I learned the hard way on our honeymoon 7 years ago. It rained every day....finally on the third day I got wise. Now, when it looks like rain, out come the flipflops! Wearing them for an hour or two doesn't really kill my feet.

For the days we are not going to ride the water rides we wear Nike. But some mornings we wear our bathing suits and sandles and ride the water rides over and over then back to the resort to change.:thumbsup2

For my last trip I wore my nike's the first day...and got blisters all over my toes (I guess I stepped on my own toes all day)! I switched to croc flip flops for the next 7 days, and kept applying the body glide on the blisters which allowed my toes to slide past each other as I stepped. I put the blister bandaids on the bad ones (these are expensive but totally worth it). I had no more problems after the first day, and the blisters were even gone by the end of the trip! There are some really cute croc flip flops for kids that I'm going to get for DD6 for our June trip.

Wow, Crocs should pay me for this endorsement!:rotfl2:
