Let's Talk Rice Krispy Treats

They don't use butter at WDW (nor does Selma's). They use margarine. That's all you have to do. Also, not corn syrup, but INVERT sugar syrup (which is a special baking product).

I don't like the Disney ones because they have a fake chemical taste to them from the margarine. I don't eat margarine at all. I prefer krispy treats homemade with real butter. But if you want them to taste like Disney's and be soft, use the cheapest margarine you can find and some invert sugar syrup.
About how much syrup to add to each batch? Any guesses??

Well, it's listed last on the ingredients list, and those are listed in order of quantity (highest comes first, etc.) So it's less than the amount of butter, which is 3tbsp per batch. I'd go with 2 tbsp to start. Go lower if they are too sweet.

Thank you so much! Like I said we don't have them here (kids here just make chocolate rice krispie "cake" where you just stir rice krispies into melted chocolate.) I shall be trying this out!

That is the "official" recipe. I actually use 16oz of marshmallows, about 4 or 5 tbsp butter. I like them extra gooey and buttery.

The chocolate and m&m ones are my favorite mickey-shaped. There are also squares with chocolate and caramel on top at the caramel shop in the Germany pavilion in Epcot that are delicious.

They also have prepackaged peanut butter mickey-shaped krispies. Which I discovered entirely by accident when I just grabbed a couple without paying enough attention to what I was doing. It was good, but not what I was expecting when I put it in my mouth!

We are planning to do this on our last day, which is Disney Springs day. We're using up our snack credits at Goofy's and I am letting each kid customize theirs however they want. I will either be going with dark chocolate, butterfinger and white chocolate - or - white chocolate, Oreos and milk chocolate.

hola!

Alright let's get down to business..

Going back to wdw in 2 weeks and 4 days and it's my mission to try some things I would normally not try (because I stick to my favorites)

One of those things is (believe it or not) a Mickey shaped rice krispy treat!

I know.. it's shocking. But I've never had one. I ALWAYS get a cake pop or sugar cookie because I love the ones at Disney. But I always see people with Mickey shaped rice krispy treats and it's time I try one at Disney.

My question is, What is YOUR favorite flavor/toppings on the mickey rice krispy treat and where do you get it on property? (I've noticed some places have different ones)

Thanks!

On a side note last trip I got a great Mickey shaped cookie cutter that is PERFECT for making them at home and I will be doing so next week!
