Say I purchased an AP and planned on going to the World the third week of May 2003, what kind of discount could I get staying at an All Star Resort? Would it even be worth getting the AP?

Thanks!

I was not there in May, but in June All Star Music was around $70 for a standard room with an AP discount.

Don't forget, you do not need to have the ap in hand when you book an ap rate. You just need to have it at checkin.

I would wait and see if rates come out THEN buy the annual pass. I know when I bought mine last November it was approximately $10-15 more than a 7 day LOS pass for an adult. It was cheaper than getting a 8 day LOS pass.

The only down side is it makes you want to go and spend your money again at Disney to get more use out of the pass!

We were at WDW the last full week in May.
I booked room only the end of January/first of February. I had AP's in hand.
I was not able to get an AP rate. I was able to use a discount code that anyone could use.
We had AP room only rates at ASMo in January at $55 a night, including taxes!
That same room was going to cost $94 a night the end of May. :p
With the discount code I used, I was able to get a room at a mod for the same price a preferred view room would have cost at ASMo. I paid (with tax) $104 a night in May.

If you're only getting the AP for the discounts, definately make the reservation first, then get the AP's. In my experience the AP rate was very difficult to get, they sell out almost immediately. We were on vacation the day the rates came out for this December and by the time I called 2 days later they were sold out for our original choice and several others as well. If you're going to get an AP discount you really have to watch for the day they come out and call the second you find out they're available!

Yes you must watch these boards for when the rates come out. I came online just before 7:00am est to see if the code was posted on Mousesavers and was off the computer and on hold on DC line by 7:10 and was on hold for over and hour!!! Lets just say I was pretty sick of hearing the Lilo & Stitch soundtrack.

But in the end I did get a better ap rate than the codes for ASMu for 10/20-25 for a total of $358 w/tax. Unfortunately it was more than the rates for Nov/Dec which really made me mad. I thought that Thanksgiving week was "peak" but apparently not anymore.

Anyway, like others have said wait until you have it booked to buy the ap. And take it from one who regrets it, if you can buy them for all in your party if the price is not too much more, you never know if your gonna want to go back. I'm still kicking myself in the a** for not doing that last year and now I have to spend $350 for my DH & DD to get passes when I could have only spent about $40 more last year to buy the ap's. That could have meant me staying at a deluxe hotel instead of the All Stars cause were are on a tight budget.

Thanks everyone for the great advice! I will definately be waiting until I get the reservation before I get an AP. Now that I think about it, it makes great sense.

Thanks again! :Pinkbounc
