Neither I nor my DW have ever been inside Innoventions. Is it worth checking out? What exactly is it and are there any must see attractions inside? What am I missing?

We have been in there a couple of times. DH and I consider it a giant waste of space. Our sons will grab onto any old video game or screen with buttons to push or even just a screen with something to stare at, but to us this is a big waste of time when you're in Disneyland. The boys don't actually ask to visit Innoventions, but they will look at all the junk if they're in there. DH called it a big advertisement for Microsoft and digital picture frames (they seemed to be everywhere in the "house of the future" part). The only cool thing we have seen in Innoventions is ASIMO, Honda's robot. He's featured in a little show thats interest lies in the gee whiz factor of the tech, not the scintillating dialog or plot.

It's been a while since I've been in Innoventions, but it basically reminded me of a large trade show. Sponsors got to show off their latest products. We were not impressed and haven't been back in a long time, so might have improved.

I really enjoyed it, but as far as "must sees" go, it depends on your taste and the weather :rotfl: I think it's a must see on a very, very hot day because it's an air conditioned building, lol. But I really enjoyed the Deam Home and exploring the little things in each room. The second story is a whole bunch of video game stuff that I had no desire for, but I have wanted to check out the ASIMO demonstration, I just haven't yet. In reality though it's a big product placement right in the middle of the Park, lol.

I have some photos from inside in my old TR. Lemme find the exact link if you are interested.

What am I missing?

Not much. DH and I didn't "get" the whole dream house thing. I don't know, maybe it was just us but we couldn't get it to do anything except for turn lights and music on and off. Made us feel kind of stupid. lol. We did a few other things but nothing was that exciting. Like Belle Ella said, it's great for hot days because of the AC.

We ere very dissappointed... Seemed to be just a giant advert for some home building company, Honda and Microsoft... We did some of the stuff on the second floor and left...

I agree that it is a great place to go on a very hot day! Here is my opinion. My two daughters and I are APs and are able to visit often. So about once a year, when it is really hot, we go in there and spend about 2-3 hours. They do have a lot of fun! Yes they loved the magic mirror! And the little boy's Peter Pan room is pretty cool at storytime, and ASIMO is pretty neat. But if I was only able to visit Disneyland several times a year or less....sorry to say, I probably wouldn't waste my time.

It's been a while since I was in there, but I remember finding some fun stuff to do in there. It's nice and cool, too. I don't really go to DLR for stuff like that, but when it's really hot or you've done everything ten times and need something different, it's worth a trip in.

So the general consensus is to visit if it is hot out and there is nothing left to do. The dream home is possibly worth it but everything else borders on being a waste of space. I think we'll try to go on our next trip, if only to check out the home. Thanks for the feedback!

I just went last month. I hadn't been in there for years so decided to check it out.
It was ok, like the others said, its just something to do when you wanna take it easy or have nothing else to do. There is a computer upstairs where you can 'age' yourself...we had a good laugh over that. Lots of video games....didn't really see much of the house of the future cuz too many people were looking at that.

It's also nice if it's cold and rainy. :) On a cold rainy day we went in and saw the "house of tomorrow" and all the seats in the "living room" were filled up by people just hanging out and watching WALL-E! I found that pretty funny. Exploring the house was a little interesting.

When it was raining, they also had some of the Pooh characters up on the upper level for meet and greets. The Asimo presentation is mildly interesting.

But yeah, pretty much, I wouldn't bother unless the weather is not optimal. :flower3:

I wish they would tear it down and build a mini epcot center with it based on a ton of eating stations from around the world- like at the real Epcot. And still have Disney themed characters inside and make it real cool looking.

Very cool idea!

I thought it was cool, but definitely not a "must see" attraction. We went when we had a 4 day trip and were in the parks pretty much from open to close each day so we had already been on everything twice.

We like the dream house, and love sitting and listening to the story in the Peter Pan room... for us, it is a minor diversion--usually while one parent rides Space! lol! But we love to check it out!

And if they need more space thaey can take Autopia too!

LOL and the pizza port- the only thing there is good pasta and salads but crappy pizza. the building makes you want to eat there- like Pizza Planet from Toy Story. But yeah- thats a great area if they combined all 3 building to make more food choices! Maybe even a really cool disney dinner show idea. And please dear God no more hamburgers or chicken nuggets, gumbo or bread bowls- LOL.... I think Disney has those maxed out already! I would like real authentic choices! Yum Yum!

As far as I'm concerned it's a major waste of space that could be better utilized. We did try to see it last Feb, but were so bored with the entry spiel that we politely waited till we could find an exit, and did a discrete exit stage right. I think that I'm going to try to see it when I'm down there in Oct, simply for the fact that I can say I've seen it.
