Spending 5 nights (Sun thru Thursday) June 8-12th in a 2BR at BWV - usually do not spend weekends to save points for more trips. Constant battle between DW and I (she spends & I save).
Decided on Sunday to call to add Friday night (75 pts -yikes) if possible. This way I could tell my DW that I tried but it backfired  since MS said it would be no problem to add another night. What happened to all those stories I keep reading about DVC members having availability problems at 7 months out! Now I am stuck with another day at WDW.;)

Aside, I booked this vacation at OKW at the 11 month window and then called at the 7 month window to change to BWV.

Are you going to surprise your DW with the extra night? Or could you not help telling her the news? Either way - it's win-win :goodvibes Enjoy your trip.

We stay on a weekend night only when we are going to WDW for a long weekend. Otherwise, I (the saver) cannot see spending more for the same accomodations, only on a different day.

For all the DWs everywhere, SERVES YOU RIGHT! ;););) Better not try that again, LOL. :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

FWIW, try another perspective: It's not 75 points for a Friday night. It's a little less than 46 points per night for a wonderful 6 night vacation in a 2 bedroom at one of the best locations in all of WDW. Cash rack rate for that room is $795 per night plus 12.5% tax - those 275 points are getting you a $5,366.25 value! Now if that doesn't make you smile, LOL. You're going to have a wonderful time!

And now you know from personal experience that the summer months aren't too tough to book at 7 months (compared to the Fall months) and that Friday and Saturday nights are often available at the last minute. :teeth:

Because of the point cost, weekend nights are often available 3-4 months out. We bought in '03 in September, and I was able to book a Friday/Saturday night stay in a studio at VWL then for a DECEMBER weekend. Our first trip home, and it was wonderful!!!:lovestruc

Bobbi:goodvibes

PS. Enjoy the extended stay!

Thanks to my Disboard friends for your replies. This true story shows that you can do an add on of a night at 3 months and change accomodations at the 7 month mark. In fact, when I changed my June reservation from OKW to BWV in November, I inquired about Easter Week and was surprised to get a 1BR at SSR for 3 nights and 3 nights at a savannah view Studio.

This will be our first visit to both of these DVC resorts. We are very excited to go in less than 3 weeks. We have been DVC members for 12 years and never had problems in booking.

:scared1: I went all hog wild and I'm doing a whole weekend at OKW in a 1BR this summer--Everyone said they wanted to stay straight through in the same room so they got their wish--usually I do S-Th 1BR, F/S in a studio and then S-Th in the 1BR. Now if I fly in rather than drive I'll have to add to the "bookends" but what the heck once in a while you just have to go for it!:scared1:

That's a much better way of looking at it, Carol. It's been killing me to use points for our weekend stay at AKV but the plan for us a year ago was to purchase AP's and use the points for our second trip. It makes this vacation seem so "cheap" in comparison to past stays.
