Yes, solar panels. They've been on the roof of that pavilion since Epcot opened in 1982.

Yes, the entire ride is powered by solar panels mounted on the roof of the Universe of Energy.

It's a gigantic paint-by-numbers mural for the Festival of the Arts show. It was about 75% done when I saw it two weeks ago. Very cool.

Yes, the entire ride is powered by solar panels mounted on the roof of the Universe of Energy.

The panels help power the ride, they don't actually have enough capacity to power the entire ride. The narration is cleverly worded so that you might think its all solar powered.
