Anyone remember that game (I'm blanking on the name, was it Scruples?) where you were given complex situations and you had to answer what you'd do in them? I think there were more rules to it (something like you gave an answer that was either truth or false and the other players had to guess whether you were telling the truth or not), but I never could keep those rules straight so we always just played it as "what would you do". Anyway, these questions were inspired by that game.
You can answer both what *would* you do, and what would you *want* to do, but for whatever reason, wouldn't do. Feel free to add another question after posting your answers.
I've included two to start us off (or to kill the thread, whichever comes first
)
Question 1)
You have a project that needs a certain tool. So, you buy the tool to make the project. One week later, you finish the project and decide you're never going to do another one. So, now you have this expensive tool that you're never going to use again. Do you return it and get your money back?
Question 2)
You have a group of friends:
Annie, Brenda, Carrie, Denise, Evelyn, and Frannie (names chosen at random to be A B C D E F
)
You, Annie, Brenda, and Carrie have been friends for several years.
Denise, Evelyn and Frannie just joined you recently. Evelyn and Denise get along great with the others.
Frannie, on the other hand, is your friend, but can't seem to ever say anything right as far as Annie and Brenda are concerned. No matter what Frannie says, Annie and Brenda disagree with it or put her down for her opinion. Oddly enough, even when you know they share the same opinion.
You like Frannie and don't understand why Annie and Brenda are constantly coming down on her. But you still like Annie and Brenda as well. After all, you've been friends for years and, other than Frannie, your relationship with them hasn't changed. But you're embarassed and frustrated with how they're treating Frannie.
Carrie doesn't like how Annie and Brenda are treating Frannie, but she's non-confrontational and so says nothing to them about it, though she privately tells you her opinions. Evelyn, on the other hand, is very vocal and stands up for Frannie all the time, though it doesn't seem to do any good.
You don't want to break your friendship with Annie and Brenda, but neither do you want to lose Frannie as a friend. And, because of work schedules, you rarely can get together with them separately.
What do you do? Do you confront Annie and Brenda on the situation like Evelyn, do you stay quite like Carrie and just suffer through it, or do you come up with some other situation?
I'll post my answers in a bit.
Anyone want to add any other questions? It's always interesting to see what people do in difficult situations.
