Let's plan Together! Jan 2009

I wish I was going in Jan.:(

I'm just here to see if anyone gets a discount on the Pirate themed rooms at CBR.

My boys will LOVE that!

Finally something for the boys.

How exciting! What a great DH! :cool1:

So who is watching the boys? I'm kinda jealous...DH and I haven't had so much as a weekend getaway since our oldest was born! There's just no one to watch the kids. But, time enough for that later (hopefully). :)

Yeah, I think I'll keep him! :lovestruc

Funny you ask about the boys. DH had it all planned out before he told me we were going....my DMil is coming up from NC for 2 weeks to visit and watch the boys for us. I was shocked he went so far to get someone before he told me. I do know how you feel...I normally don't have anyone to watch my children either, that's why this is such a big deal to me!!

I am a former NOVAite!!!..... but somehow I have ended up in Tennessee. :goodvibes I am on January code watch in a big way. Thinking early January and just pop the kids out of school...maybe.

Hey, your dates are almost exactly like mine....except we are flying home late Sunday night. I'm still trying to figure out our schedule though. We definitely want to go to Universal and IOA for a couple of days. I'm trying to figure out the best days to do things, since MLK weekend will be busier. Where are you staying? We're probably staying at Windsor Hills, but I haven't reserved yet.

We are staying at the Best Western Lakeside- it is just west of World Drive along 192. We got a great price on Hotwire- our total for 10 nights, including all fees, taxes, AND the 7 days of Disney parking fees (I always add that amt into our hotel cost) is $500. Since it is just DD10 and I, we don't need more than a standard room- the rooms at our hotel do include a mini fridge and microwave, which is nice.

We never seem to make it off WDW property- DH wants to try out Universal and Sea World sometime, but I am happy with just Disney.

We'll be arriving mid afternoon on Friday the 15th and leaving late on the 25th. I can hardly wait!!!!!

I'm in!

Just finalized everything today! We just went in July, but through several flukes, DS4 and I will be going January 22-25 with my mom.

This will be my first time staying on-site, and I'm very excited. We got one heck of a deal at Pop Century and I just can't wait!

Inquiring minds want to know....

What kind of deal did you get at Pop Century? I didn't think any codes had been released yet for January.

No codes (I had been waiting for another pin to hit my email) but using our AAA card we got a nice chunk of change off of the original quotes I'd gotten, so I booked it. I was getting different quotes from the AAA agent versus their website, website having the better price, so I called Disney and she told me that the website price was correct and I booked it then and there.

This was for room only. DH is an employee of GM and we get discounted park tickets through him, so we didn't get a package.

We are booked @ FW cabins for Jan 2-9, 09. Some threads are saying the crowds will be awful! Most schools in the North are going back on the 5th, so I was hoping crowds would thin out by Sunday, the 4th, any thoughts?

the kids in our wisconsin school district go back Jan 5th.

Also, I was quoted a room only at Pop for the end of Jan was $78/night

We're going on the exact same dates, the 2-9, (I think we've posted about that before) and I am not too worried. I've been booking some ADRs and am able to get basically whatever I want, whenever I want, which makes me think things won't be so bad. At least, that's what I keep telling myself. ;-) I really think that the 2nd and 3rd may be crowded, but it should be lighter after that.

Husband, son, granddaughter and I going to WDW 1/17-1/23/09. Last time there was 1990! Staying at All Star Music and got the quick serve dining plan. Looking forward to any discounts we can get!

I am also trying to book through AAA and the rates listed are $69.70 +, but when I call Disney they told me the AAA rate was $82.73 +? When you book through AAA can you call Disney and discuss your reservation w/them or do you have to deal w/AAA only? Also, are you allowed to use The Magical Express to and from Airport if you book w/ AAA?

Thanks for any info!

I am pretty sure the only requirement for using Magical Express is staying on property. It does not matter if you made your reservation through AAA.

It is my uderstanding that when you book with any travel agent you cannot call Disney to discuss your reservation, everythign must be done through the travel agent.

Whew! Just finished all the ressies (flight, hotel, tickets, ADR) and now I can sit back and let the anticipation build!:cool1: . I couldn't have done it without all the great help on the DIS. :thanks: We are going for the first time between the 10th and the 20th. I've seen people discussing MLK weekend and the past crowds. I wanted to let everyone know that it is not only a three day weekend but there is a BIG soccer championship at the sports complex. That is actually why we're going. This happened last year as well which might explain some higher crowds. Anyway just thought I'd share.
