I think the show K-9 is loosely based off the K-9 from Doctor Who. The design of K-9 is very different, and it's been made by Jetix Europe. BBC didn't take part in the show because they were busy focusing on Torchwood, so other then K-9, no other characters from Doctor Who will be in it.
