Are Generation Y and Millenials the same generation?

First I've seen about Generation X. I thought Millenials went way into the 2000+.
As with most things, you'll see a lot online. I am citing a reputable organization whose sole focus is understanding how age impacts perspective/experience in a broad sense.

Not that I put any stock in it, but I've also wondered about people's astrological signs on the Dis. Because while I don't believe that my horoscope is going to indicate how my day might go, I do think its a fun topic.

When I was in college, I dated (for a long time) a girl who's mother was an astrologer. She had her own 1-900 line (remember those???) and for a while, I actually helped with some billing verification for her. What an....uh...interesting thing that was. She was quite a unique character herself. I can tell you she made some serious money.

So far there's a strong lead going for y'all! ;)

Generations, the company mentioned above, breaks out population this way:

Traditionalists-75 million
Baby Boomers-80 million
Generation X-60 million
Millenials-82 million
Generation Edge-61 million

I believe that is a global population figure.

Maybe DISboards is the Generation X stage!

I would have guessed that there'd be a lot of GenXers here. We're the ones with kids of the right age to be going to Disney World, and we're old enough that we have some disposable money and jobs where we can play on the Dis at work occasionally.

ETA: Yes, I know millenials are old enough to have kids, and sure, some Boomers are here because of grandkids, but we're just talking general trends.

There are few golden truths, but one of them is people love to hear what they want to believe about themselves. ;)

Or like to think they are nothing like their sign. But both are doing the same thing that you're driving at here.

Yeah, it looks like you were super right! I would have definitely guessed that for WDW attendees, but a lot of the board members seem like there's a lot of "back in my day..." which I guess I must associate with people over 50, ha! Starting to surmise that I just don't interact with a diverse age group outside of DISboards online, which is such a missed opportunity.

Gen X might be the lowest in population numbers, but it is certainly the overwhelming voice of DISboards!

LOL! I can't speak for the rest of GenX, but I'm starting to feel really old! I've totally found myself saying "back in my day..." Still haven't yelled at kids for playing on my lawn yet, but give me a few more months.

I believe that is a global population figure.

That adds up to 358 million, roughly the population of the USA, depending on which estimate you want to believe. The global population is closer to 7.5 billion.

EDITED TO ADD: I thought about it some more, and I think that may be the population of the US + Canada. SIRI says the USA has ~325 million, Canada ~35 million.

Lol...way too out of my league there! I know I'm a taurus on the cusp (again, like the age thing) with a lot of scorpio stuff. That's all I've got.

Message me yr birthdate, birthplace, & birthtime & I'll be your Aladdin. ;)

I am a pseudoscience junkie.

If you send me your Social Security, I'll be your Equifax. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Miss Cleo?!?!?

Baby Boomer on the 60's side.

Funny, but I am not an identity thief. You need those elements to compose a natal chart. Birthdays are easy to find online. A birthtime and city is not generally useful to anyone anyway. Of the things you should secure those two rank low. Birthday is much more dangerous, and those are pretty public already.

Cool, thanks! They didn't say.

DH & I are both definitely Gen-Xers!

And, even though we may be in the majority on the DISboards, Generation X is a smaller generation, relatively speaking.

DH & I have commented before (most of the time while at the grocery store), it feels like we're surrounded by Baby Boomers & Millennials.

Millennial! SO is too.

And old enough to remember watching this as a kid. Replace MAHNA MAHNA with millennial.

Lmao! Considering I have consistently found I agree with you and/or have similar tastes in things that does not suprise me. My husband and I are also of the snake people. ;)

I'm "Gen X" as well (though, as others said, I also wish it had a better name!)

I wonder if these might be related? A smaller generation means less competition for jobs, which may have led to quicker movement in careers and a higher likelihood of being in that "Disney demographic" mentioned before.
