OK, I'm in a bit of a weird predicament. Recently I have transitioned from my long runs on Monday evenings, to having my long runs on Sunday mid-morning. Mondays were getting a little hard, so Sunday works better and actually is on all the training plans.

My problem, is after I have my run, I end up feeling tired and lethargic the rest of my Sunday! Why is that? Is there anything I can do to feel more perky after my Sunday run?

I'm staying hydrated throughout the day, I eat a light breakfast before the run, and eat a nice lunch after I take my shower. I don't know what I am doing wrong!

Any suggestions? Anyone else have this??

Even though you say you are hydrating well and are having a meal, it sounds like you are either not fully hydrated or are not getting enough carb in the post run meal. Try having a glass of chocolate milk or some other recovery drink before the shower and then add a few percentage points carbs in the lunch. Finally, if your urine stream is not nearly clear, make sure to drink a little more. post run.

OK really final ,are you sure you are hydrating well enough on run? The best way to understand hydration is to weigh pre and post run. If your weight is the same, then you hydration rate is correct. If you lose or gain more than a half % of your starting weight, adjust you on the run hydration rate.

Really final, are you taking vitamin supplements? If not grab an athlete version of a supplement and take these daily.

Thanks so much coach!! I will try out your suggestions! I'm still pretty sure I am good with hydration but I will try that weighing thing out!!

Yes I realize now I am not taking in enough carbs post run, that is probably it! I feel good right after the run and for about an hour and a half, then I'm a slug the rest of the day!!

Thank you so much!! I have some good things to try!!

Coach, thank you so much!!! I did the weigh thing and my hydration is good! I drank my choc milk, showered and then had some tortellini! I am doing good today, I have my normal tiredness from working out but not the lethargy I had been experiencing!! I appreciate your input and help!! Thank you from the bottom of my running heart :)
