I need some opinions. I am looking to book my vacation through a Disney agency like "Dreams unlimited" or "small world vacations", places who are familiar with things. With that being said, I have been reading over the past weeks and months that a good amount of people want to book the "dining" part of their vacation on their own.

I have never had an issue in the past with whatever agency I used, but with that being said, am I missing something by not booking the dining myself?

Any opinioins appreciated!

Thanks!

as a TA, I love to be able to help folks with whatever they want. For some that means every part of the planning process...for others it means a hands-off approach.

So many Disers really enjoy taking care of the details of planning - especially dining. If you just want certain restaurants and give your TA general guidelines (prefer not to eat breakfast before 7:40 or dinner after 8:05), let your TA handle it.

If you like calling in and hearing "There's a 12:05 and a 1:20 which reservation would you like?" You should definately make them yourself.

A travel agent should simplify your process, not add to your headaches. Dining reservations can take a long time. If you use a TA because you like to save your time online and over the phone...let your TA handle it and get something else done!

Long answer short: really up to you!
(my answer might be different if your TA didn't know Disney backward and forward!)

I've never used a TA but I think I would prefer to make them myself. I like choosing my times. For example, if that 7:00 ohana wasn't available, I want to decide if I want to eat a little later and get the 7:30, or eat earlier at 6:30. But that's just me.

I'm using Small World vacations for my trip but I made all my ADRs myself. The online system is so easy to use and I wanted to have options if what I originally wanted wasn't available. As it was I had to change my date for 'Ohana to my third choice just to get a reasonable time for dinner. I think it would be hard to do that through a TA.

i would make my own. it is so easy with online system now

I don't use a TA for anything. I find that it is too much of a hassle to "change" something if needed, you have to go thru them.

Not sure if it is the same with adrs but I think so, if you want to change it they have to do it.

I prefer to make them myself. I am always scared something will get messed up. That way if I make them I have no one but myself to blame.

Up until this trip, I always let my TA book my ADRs, and was never disappointed - especially since she got me into CRT and Le Cellier without fail! Now with the online system, I think it's easier to do it myself - I can adjust as needed without emailing/calling back and forth with my TA!
