I was really bummed when the gratuity was taken out of the DDP :guilty: so I thought that I should add credit to my key card. Can I do this over the phone months ahead? What about a gift card? Where can I purchase a WDW gift card? Has anyone done this yet?:confused3

You add your credit card when you check-in... They have actually made it easy to add the tip... At the bottom of the bill they print two tip options (18% and 20%) and they give you the exact $ amount for each option... You can check that you want to take the tip option and which $ amount before you give your key card (for the dining plan)... They will take off the dining credit and charge your room the tip at the same time... Really easy.... This way you do not have to carry around an extra card.

I think I'm just going to take cash with me, and get money out of the ATM every few days as I need it.

Can I only do that upon checking in?

We took cash with us... I brought a bunch a singles, fives and tens with us when we left for the trip (instead of going to the ATM)... I knew how many TS we had planned and around about idea how much I would need for the trip... I had plenty to give to each server... I kept the money in the safe and took it out each day, as needed.

You cannot do it before you arrive and they ask you upon check-in to leave the credit card... But I am sure you can add it during your stay... But not before.

Every problem that I have ever seen relating to mix-ups with the Dining Plan charges was because charging privledges were on the same card as the credits.

Guess we were fortunate - we used our kttw cards for everything and everything came out perfect and no surprises come bill time..

Tip time went really smooth
I simply wrote what I wanted charged - signed the 1 receipt for the meal credits and the other for the tip/drink/extra charges, etc and was on my way.
I will say - the only weird situation was at the AK TuskerHouse - the waiter asked to see our card and unknown to me as I was getting food kept it through the meal. When I asked him for it back, he said he keeps it until the end so customers don't bail without paying the required gratuity. I went umm---it's technically NOT required nor appreciated to have one's personal property withheld to "force" me into paying you... His manager was right there and quickly apologized and explained he was to have ONLY done that for parties over 6... Interesting to say the least
